HAVE YOU SEEN the system war boards?!!!! the answer is NO... it will not happen there will be petitions to stop it. XBX and PS4 Gamers DO NOT want to play together. Sony has for years been working on cross-play with PC games, and will continue to do so. Nintendo may be added later, but no XBX!! There are enough people playing that there is no need for more.
with games that not many people play a small community of committed gamers it could work. That is the only way.
Great games again, and some going to 2019. I'm sure in 2020 more great games will come out. Sony some more AA middle ground games, more than indie but less production cost than AAA.
@Eddie619: PS5 in 2021or so AFTER AMD APU and HMB 3.0. or DDR 6.O Sony dosn't need to again try for expensive cutting edge tech just for better visuals. Many are happy with PS4 VISUALS.
@girlusocrazy: no, looking at AMDs chips coming out and 7nm die size it would be best for the PS4 to launch in 2020 or 2021. or would you prefer a less powerful more expensive console?
@Barighm: .... the main problem will be AI and physics. The amount of processing needed to represent actions on the screen will negate the ability of TVs. And if people want newer games that push the limits of current games then a box with chips in it that plays games will be necessary. For simple games I can see it working out but not advanced games.
Sony did not drop their price as much as Microsoft did and that affected their overall sales. Once Sony drops the price of the PS4 sales will pick up again. 199.00 for slim and 299 for pro by May this year.
@Eddie619: GDDR6 will just launch in 2018 HBM 3.0 will launch in 2019 and 7nm die shrink will start to happen in 2019 2018 at the earliest. New kinds of chips using AI or physics (as with Pixel 2 and apples A11X chip... etc) this could be a good new direction for Games consoles. It will take a little time for all of this tech to come out before the console market to implement them. SONY has learned its lesson with the PS3 and cutting edge tech launched TOO soon.
PS5 in 2020 at the earliest.
@Eddie619: I just do not see PS5 before 2020. The leap will not be that big. We will be playing the same games with EVEN less visual difference next gen than last gen.
From PS1 to PS2 big improvements in visuals medium jump in game play and physics. Not much in AI.
From PS2 to PS3 no as big of jump but still a good leap in visuals, not a big jump in gameplay, physics, or AI.
From PS3 to PS4 less of a leap in visuals, medium jump in gameplay, physics and A.I.
Most of the games playable today can be played on PS2 in 480i or less and low filtering. Im trying to think of a game that is not anywhere like all the games on PS2. I can't think of any. To launch a PS5 so soon after PS4 Pro is not wise, I just don't think Sony will so soon maybe 4+ yeas after PS4 pro. unless they have games that just cant be done in 1080p that is different. A system seller.
I though end of year while other games get delayed to 2019. So its looking like this year will be packed again. More DLC, for Horizon:ZD I hope. they can build up some story as you search for information, and a few epic Boss battles. maybe a jet-pack for easy transport around the map. can even have in air battle with some stormbringer. .
I hope they plan God of War out with DCL every 4 months for a year to keep people into the game. find a treasure, side quest, and some clarity or back story to play through.
