Does Game of Thrones have nudity and sex in it?I think I get it and wanted to check it out but not if there's a lot of nudity and sex.

From what I heard from MSD, yes--and plenty of it.

Radio in the country is so weird... Why do they edit the word 'nympho'?MethodManFTW

Dunno. But it's a stupid sounding word, nonetheless.

[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"]Oh, and the show is absolutely ridiculous with all of thegratuitous sex and nudity. Almost none of that is in the novels. There's one scene of about 10 minutes of lesbian sex that never happened. I just don't see the need for all that. That's ten minutes they could have spent covering some of the story they left out. The first season covers the entire first book in 10 episodes, but they could have easily made twice as many episodes with that book.MrSelf-Destruct

I like "passion," but could easily live without the gratuitous kind.

Whatever, HBO is in that Cinemax phase now; I wouldn't miss a potentially good show just because of some ill-advised nude scenes and "scissor me timbers" action :P

Yeah, HBO is certainly on the "hump in every episode" kick lately. The first season of Trueblood was downright raunchy, and my wife says there's only one mild sex scene in the whole book that it covered. Of course, they added a lot of stuff since that book was light on content. Anyway, yeah, you certainly shouldn't let a little ugly bumpin' stop you from watching such an awesome show!

*haha* That sounds ridiculous. But hey--like food, clothing and shelter.. sex will always sell (maybe :P).

[QUOTE="Rakuho"]

[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"] There are actually several main characters. Each chapter is told from the perspective of a different character (though not in 1st person), so you'll be switching back and forth from one character to another. The characters range in age, gender, social status, family, loyalties, and so forth. There are a few people that you will side with automatically though everyone has their faults, and there are others who you will absolutely loath while still enjoying the twisted bit of insight you get from their twisted little minds. And yes there are quite a few romances, but they're usually either tragic or kinda gross. :P MrSelf-Destruct

Alright, that's pretty intriguing...

Too bad about the gross romance though... :P

Lol. You'll see what I mean when I say gross. There's a lot of rape and incest. Like I said, its a very brutal. It all fits, though. It makes it what it is.

Well, I guess rape and incest fall under the romance category too (well, the latter much more so than the former)--but, yeah, I would imagine those activities to be commonplace for the times in which the novels are supposedly set.

Oh, and I replied to your TV series comment, as well. It should be somewhere on this page (maybe).

[QUOTE="Rakuho"]

[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"] The novels are freakin' amazing, dude. Its fantasy, but its very down to earth. There's not a bunch of wizards and goblins and stuff lurking about on every page, and most of it resembles our own medieval times (some people even call it 'fantistorical'). It's morbid, it's tragic, it's twisted. The characters are all very well fleshed out, all loveable and hateable in their own right. Some die when you least expect it, even your favorites, and some do stupid s*** that makes you want to kill them yourself, despite how awesome they are. The author can paint a picture with words as flawlessly as anyone ever could with a brush. He knows how to set the tone to make you really feel what's going on. When he wants you to be creeped out you will be creeped out. When he wants you to get pissed you will get pissed. If he wants you to feel heartbroken.. well... you just might cry. I could honestly go on all day, man, but this is probably the BEST series of books I've ever read - fantasy or otherwise. I don't usually don't even touch fantasy. Anyway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

MrSelf-Destruct

Thank you for that. I guess there's no harm in getting the first book, as on paper, it sounds rather good.

I do have a few (simple) questions, though:

Is there a main protagonist, around whom the narrative revolves? And is there any romance ? (tragic, happy, etc.; it doesn't matter)

There are actually several main characters. Each chapter is told from the perspective of a different character (though not in 1st person), so you'll be switching back and forth from one character to another. Alright, that's pretty intriguing...

Too bad about the gross romance though... :P
