@pcps4xb: Exactly. I practice law. We're adversarial by nature. It's actually our job. But there are those attorneys who can never crack a smile, who never take off the gloves, who--no matter how inconsequential an interaction--take pains to be as confrontational, vitriolic, and demeaning as possible. We refer to them in the profession as "assholes," and it's hard to take them seriously. Good practitioners recognize we can fight each other tooth and nail and still maintain civility.

@kutraz: Geez, bud. I agree that it's all PR, but maybe take a day off if you're this high-strung. I'm sure they're not oblivious to the reality that their shiny new console needs games. Tossing around a little friendly banter doesn't change their business obligations. It just may, however, remind us that even business are comprised of people, and people should occasionally make a sporting go of being decent.

I'd offer you a hug, but I wouldn't want to offend your sensibilities, so maybe just a firm, businesslike nod of acknowledgement?

@sikkens: Perfect comment. You're 100% on the money. We've reached such a wonderful pitch of insanity that we're happy to completely ignore real problems to fabricate monsters to slay. Ironically fitting of an age obsessed with video games, no?

@esqueejy: It's a fictional character, and they can create whatever backstory serves their narrative. Most people sustaining horrible burns are going to have "issues" with it. I've known several, and not all of them were "broken," but none of them said, "oh, hey, cool...no big deal." It's realistic, particularly in less sensitive times, that people were outcast for disfigurements. This is reflected in a number of stories, some of them featuring fantastic redemptive arcs. If people find stories of this nature too much to bear, there's no shortage of worthwhile alternative fiction. Some of it, I hear, features unicorns.

@ender003: Agreed. I stayed off GS for months because of the cowardly practice of locking comments for contentious articles. I generally prefer the content on this site to something like IGN, but I was forced to the latter because, as inane and ridiculous as the comments section is there, they at least allow a conversation. Good on you, Mr. Watts.

@goldenageplayer: You're really intellectually lazy. Your best response is "Lol incelz!"? Do better.

@ghosttech: Thank you for this. One of my best friend's little brothers had his entire arm burned and shriveled by a childhood accident. I don't think there's anything amusing about it. At the same time, pretending it isn't tragic is just stupid.

OH FFS. No wonder people are so fragile. I would absolutely be sensitive to anyone, in person, who feels insecure or ashamed, whatever the reason. That's called being a decent human being. But to try to reshape the world to pretend there aren't bad things out there which impact our lives is not doing anyone a service. It's tragic people get burned. It's tragic people get scarred. But far more tragic than either is a world where we attempt to sterilize everything, to ban or hide or outright pretend everything which strikes us as unpleasant doesn't exist so we needn't contend with it. Several million years of evolution brought us to the pinnacle of achievement. Several short decades will send us face-first back into the dirt, as we pick ourselves up, cowering, and slink off to nurse our wounds for the rest of time. Pathetic.

@6t4gp: I don't think it's a true measure when games aren't designed for the tech. Check out Spider Man: MM, which jumps from the start screen to in-game in I believe something like 2-3 seconds. I don't know firsthand, but it seems like XBSX will perform better for unoptimized games, while PS5 will be clearly superior for PS-developed titles.

Time will tell.

@theywantthedro: Haha. Thiccness aside (and I do think the PS5 looks a bit ridiculous, but I don't buy consoles for looks), it was more that I like to try something new every once in a while. Two things really push me towards PS5 at this point though. As I mentioned, I love their exclusives (or games that sometimes go PC, but tend to miss Xbox and Nintendo). Beyond that, their new controller is getting rave reviews. Apparently, the haptic feedback really does meaningfully advance the tech, and seems to be the most "next-gen" feature presented by any of the new consoles. I feel like there's little else on the table that's innovative, besides "more power" in the PS5/Xbox SX. That makes PS5 hard to pass up.
