This decision is definitely a step forward and will help the gaming community in general for sure. What bothers me is that they are trying to play it as if they care about the community. If they did, they wouldn't have placed these policies in the first place. Not saying Sony is a saint, but lesser of two evils and all that...

M$'s flaky-ness kinda makes them even less trustworthy now. They should have just fessed up to messing up and apologised and then reversed the policies.

I always planned on buying both the consoles at some point cos of their respective exclusives. XB1 still isn't a day one buy for me though, rather spend those 100$ on a couple of games.

@NightLord47 I know what you mean. I'm not sure about Spark, but on LBP1 & 2, you could share your levels and restrict access for editing. I used to get requests for enabling the sharing option on my LBP levels and I used to invite people into my level and we used to do some co-op editing, used to be fun if you got the right people.

I hope they have something similar...

I've somehow lost respect for MS now... When these policies were announced, M$ was defending them, justifying them and even were confident that the consumers will "vote with their" wallets. Now, as soon as Amazon and other retailers have announced that the PS4 has sold out, the back peddle. SHould have stuck to your guns man....

I wonder if the HDD will be user change-able like the PS3. I really hope they don't go down the proprietary path and stick to 2.5" user removable HDD's, cos no matter what people say and however fast a USB 3.0 bus might be, a hardware bus will always be faster. So instead of having to connect an external HDD and losing a precious USB port, I'd prefer swapping out the entire HDD when required

@apathee I get where you're coming from mate. I agree with you that all of us gamers have a good online connection that rarely fails us. I also know that it is extremely silly to rant and rave about the DRMs since PCs have almost always had it. The reason why people are so over joyous about Sony's announcement is not because they have a more lenient DRM or it doesn't require an "always on" connection, it's because for the first time, a money grabbing greedy spawn of satan has actually given back to the little guy. It gives us, as an entire gaming community, hope, its a good feeling to be heard. I was quite surprised by it, I had written Sony off and was sure they will follow suit with MS. Its just a breath of fresh air. The always online requirement never really bothered me, but I was well upset with the used games policy that MS had. My friends and I always buy games collectively, where I'll get a couple and they will get some and then we lent them amongst ourselves. MP games we all buy and play together. Also, there are so many gems of games that I have played cos I picked em up used which I would have never played otherwise. I also will be getting both consoles eventually, but at launch, its gonna be the PS4, mainly cos its cheaper. Maybe a year into the XB1s lifecycle, when at the next E3 they announce a cheaper version, might I dare say, a "Kinect free" version even, I'll get it.

There is no point in sticking to one camp and rooting for it, cos in the end, it'll be you who'll be losing out on some great games which will be exclusive to the other party.

Peace!

@rdwolf260 See, theres one thing I don't agree with you on. I think the cloud service will define the next-gen. I know, its not the best right now, but its currently in its infancy. As time goes on, the service will become stronger and being able to offload computing will definitely enhance the gaming experience. At the moment, even I am leaning towards the PS4, but I really hope that the Gaikai service is not just for streaming games and that the devs can integrate it in their games too.
