[QUOTE="Pirate700"]Illegal, no. Damning, yes. Anyone who loses a child doesn't immediatly go out partying and getting a tattoo about how great their life is. You just don't. Nobody sane anyway.

supa_badman

Perhaps she just didn't care? Doesn't make her guilty.

If she didn't care about the welfare of her child, then that's negligence, and I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

So we now have laws on personal feelings and emotions?

[QUOTE="Gen007"]

lol good thing your not a lawyer because you would be sending plenty of innocent people to their death or to life in prison. I mean come on "The final decision is not based on the evidence" if not that then it might as well be based on ponies and magical faeries. It is about how convinced the jury is but they get convinced by evidence. So in essence 100% about the evidence and if a jury cleary votes against the evidence, the judge actually has the authority to overturn that decision. If the Judge makes a bad call then they start hitting appeals so no the jury is not the final determinant.

Im convinced that you dont truly understand reasonable doubt and your example doesn't prove your point all to well. It would take only why eyewitness to convict on a murder as long as they were credible. Now if they get discredited or tarnished thats a different story. Of course more witnesses is better but the one will work no matter how the jury feels.

spacesheikh

I was merely trying to illustrate that evidence is not the absolute determinant. If that were the case then we would determine a trial by a checklist of evidence. "If there is an eyewitness, semen, and video evidence then guilty". "If there is an eyewitness and semen then not guilty". Evidence is not measured like that.

Evidence has to be integrated by the jury. DOUBT is the final determinant, not the EVIDENCE.

The abscence of evidence is not the evidence of abscence?

I think the amount of threads on this case are getting out of control...

all i can is casey anthony might have been better off in jail...she wont be able to go anywhere for the rest of her life without her being at risk of somebody killing her. when a justice system is based on "a reasonable doubt" this is what happens. this is why juries, filled with common people is a terrible idea.

UCF_Knight

Nobody is going to kill her. >.> Everyone is just all talk. Nobody is going to risk their own life because she is free.

She could easily just move to Europe or such to avoid that. Not many people outside of the US even heard about this case. It wasn't international news, really.

As for the verdict, I'm very happy she was found not guilty. It's good to see the media doesn't completely control everyone and that sometimes the justice system works.

[QUOTE="Doct0rBiohazard"]They should be set free. Their intentions were good.Doct0rBiohazard

Not sure if serious...

No, I am. They had their reasons which I support. They didn't do it just to pass some time and releave some boredom you know.

I'm sure many mass murderers had good intentions too. Unfortunately they hurt alot of people so that defense doesn't work for the murderer.

Similar to this. Their intentions were good (not really) but they harmed thousands of thousands of innocent people so it doesn't matter if they had pure intentions. They hurt others.
