They are snubs. I consider them snubs, and they are just as much snubs as anything you consider snubs. I also would agree that Ben Affleck should have been nominated for Directing. I have not seen Zero Dark Thirty so I cannot express opinion on that, but I've heard others feel the same as you.
I, and many of my geek friends loved Looper and are surprised not to see it nominated for anything either. It is possible that this is not a coincidence, and that there is a reason that Looper, 50/50, and The Dark Knight Rises were not nominated other than simply "they were not good enough". Do the big wigs in charge of these shows simply have a grudge against Joseph Gordon-Levitt due to his promotion of indie films, open, free, art collaboration (hitRECord), and for his history of criticizing the reason some movie stars and studios do the work they do?
I'm happy that OnLive is dying and I feel bad for the guys who lost their jobs.
