Well if you can wait just a little longer the AMD 370X should be out... From the rumors is said to be only 30% slower then 970 and only cost $170-$199. GTX 960 is about 50% slower then 970.

If you wait till March 17th 4GB GTX 960's should be priced and available.

Oh yeah I definitely wouldn't be building until at least April. At first I wasn't sure if prices changed fast for PC parts, but after looking at my amazon wishlist that I made a couple days ago, half of the items changed prices (in some direction). I guess I should ask this question (that is, one about what parts I should get) a bit closer to when I'll actually be purchasing the parts. Thanks for the info!

@Jr14: Cool, thanks! Maybe it's just cause I've been playing on a meh laptop for 4 years, but I think I'll be okay not getting 60 FPS for everything.

I'm building my first PC soon, and I'm on a tight-ish budget. I'm perfectly fine with not running things at ultra maxed out settings - as long as it's at least playable on high settings with no stutter. I'm mostly interested in playing Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the FF XIII trilogy, GTA V and games that are already out (pre 2015). My friend who's helping me build really wants me to get the 970, but the $100 less would really help me out. Plus, I hear of older cards running modern games just fine as well.

I'm getting a new laptop for college in a few weeks, and I was wondering if the specs on this are decent enough for gaming? I'm fine without having ultra high settings on the newest of games, but I just want newer games to be playable without lag or hiccups or slow down etc on at least medium. If this isn't too good, is there perhaps another laptop good for gaming in the same price vicinity?

I'm a real penny pincher so saving any amount money would be good. I'm off to college next year and I figure that an immense amount of graphical power wouldn't be all that necessary so I was thinking about upgrading this old PC my friend is giving me with a Radeon 6870 and just a Core 2 Duo or i3 since it only has a Pentium 4 currently. Would I get decent graphics on games like Fallout 3/New Vegas, Mass Effect 2, and Final Fantasy XI with the aforementioned CPU and GPU? My definition of decent is like the higher medium settings without any hiccups in gameplay. Thanks for your time

Case -COOLER MASTER Elite RC-310-BWN1-GP
PSU -SILVERSTONE ELEMENT ST75EF 750W ATX12V
CPU -AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
MoBo -ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD (for some reason adding a link for this won't work...it's on newegg though for $119.99)
RAM -Corsair XMS3 TW3X4G1333C9 - 4GB (2x2GB)
HDD -SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB
GPU -XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB

I don't necessarily want to run every single game at max settings, but at least fairly high. And I also want to confirm that all of these components are compatible. The parts total $744.93 and if anyone can make suggestions to this that can make it better or lower the price with equal performance they are welcome to. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention that I already have an operating system (the same one you mentioned actually) so that's all set. My parents have a broken eMachine in the garage...do you think that the DVD drive would work from that?
