It's probably using a mobile Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU. It's pretty easy to fit that all in such a small box, especially since it's likely using a power brick.

Been gaming on an HDTV for almost 5 years. All you need to do is just use an HDMI Cable, and you get video + sound.

It's not hard you idiots.

@bfmv2007 A top end 5 year old PC would have a huge advantage over the Wii U. At least double the graphics performance (Geforce 9800GTX) and a Core 2 Quad that ****s all over Xenon, and by huge extension Wii U's Expresso CPU.

The GPU and RAM subsystem is better, but the CPU is much weaker. It literally has a 5th of the GFLOPS Xenon does. It's pathetic.

The Wii U's CPU is extremely outdated architecture. It's a tricore version of the Wii's CPU with much more cache and only running 1.24 GHz. Tweaking it to work for such a weak processor would only be damning to an engine designed for things like very high end physics, environment destruction, and high end animation. It doesn't have the GFLOPS to make it happen in realtime with good results.

CryEngine 2 and 3 can run on some very weak hardware, like 3.0 GHz Pentium 4s. Realistically it comes down to how much you're throwing at the system. FB3 is designed around powering games that will throw quite a bit at the CPU and GPU, so realistically, there is no need to port an engine made for games that should be ran on quad core CPUs.

This makes sense. Nintendo's best approach would've been releasing a decently powerful system, one that is a real upgrade to the 360 and PS4, but not necessarily as powerful as the PS4 and 720.

By doing so they would still have a system good enough for all genres and multiplatform games so they could not just be "left out".

Might as well call it F--- U in reference to all the hardcore and core gamers who jumped ship with good reason, and are unwilling to jump back into their cheaply hulled boat.
