what browser do you use?

check you browser to see if you're going through a proxy or not.

what OS are you running?

if it's windows you can do a ping test by typing

ping google.com -t

let this go for like 10 min and let us the loss rate. it should be 0.

from what you're saying so far it could be the following. from software to hardware.

1. Software on your computer. Possibly some malicious program in the background or misconfigured browser.

2. your network drivers.

3. your network card

4. your network cable (if it's long or just too bent/shredded.)

5. the port on your router.

the information you give can help to narrow the possibilities.

also make yourself an ubuntu bootable CD so that you can run ping google from it. this can tell us if it's the software or hardware that's the cause.

half life 3 would be a big project. in a way it is like Duke Nukem Forever in that they need to live up to the legacy of Half life 2.

also they are making a lot of bank with hats. the free to play market is hot now and they'll be doing that with dota 2 as well.

Bioshock was great and memorable. bioshock 2 didn't feel that way to me at all. A recent sequel that i felt was able to still overcome being a sequel was Portal 2. I clearly remember a lot of parts in portal 2 but only a few parts of bioshock2.

I think the point is if you sell your game on Steam, then decide to sell any DLC on other DD services, it has to come to Steam as well, which I think is a fair point. There is no reason why Steam should support any developer/publisher who is favoring other DD services over Steam. The way I see it all Steam is asking for is an equal treatment if developers/publishers want to sell games on their service.

If Steam does not put its foot down now when it is a major player then other DD services are going to use similar tactics to slowly chip at Steam until they bring them down. With EA now entering the DD arena in a major way Steam can not afford to be jerked around like this. Now other developers/publishers know that Steam is serious about such things and if they want their games on Steam they can not pull crap like this.

I agree. as far as i know Valve has not asked for exclusive DLC for themselves. if valve allows EA to do this it's not good for the steam users (and all gamers) either as then all DLC for all games could be exclusive to different download services. I see the battle very similar to net neutrality. call it game neutrality. I want to be able to purchase all parts of a game from everywhere that sells the game.

So if you sell a game on Steam, you have to sell all of your DLC on Steam? That makes no sense whatsoever. EA is producing the content, why shouldn't they be allowed to sell it wherever they want?

Valve is the platform owner here, they're the only one with all of the keys. They get to decide who puts games on their platform, and how. If Sony decided to pull an EA game from their console because they had some Xbox-exclusive DLC, the Internet would be in an uproar right now.

EA isn't in direct competition with Sony though. For Valve this becomes advertising for a game that could lead customers away from steam to get DLC.

according to Moore's Law it should be more. 10x is not really great for 10 years by the time it comes out.
