What the **** is your definition of indie? An indie dev is one with lower numbers of employees that doesn't have to answer to big publishers (because they self-publish) or have big budgets (save for those times where enough people want the game that the company makes millions from crowd-sourcing), it's not about being unique like that. You can get indie devs making CoD clones and, while the idea of such a thing is horrible and an affront to all gaming, those clones would still be indie games because the would be made under the aforementioned conditions of the developing company. Really nothing to do with being 'out there'.
