Johnny has a point.......you would think that a feature designed to ridicule less than constructive feedback would reduce that kind of feedback and make people a little more thoughtful about about how they express themselves. However like he says it seems to be having the opposite effect. However, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater Johnny! Make some changes if you must, but don't completely do away with Feedbackula. Just figure out how to make it a troll free zone! Keep the funny and stupid comments, filter out the obscene!
Personally, I'm holding our for LEGO "Game of Thrones". Think of the possibilites! The Wall and King's landing made of LEGOs! Ned Stark might still lose his head but he could just snap it back on.........
I have had the same concerns. Being ex military myself (back when we still used muzzleloaders LOL!), I understand of course that real war is something to be avoided if at all possible. It worries me that younger players may get the wrong idea about war from these games. Being a holy terror on the digital battlefield doesn't mean a thing on a real one. Death is a real and permanent thing and there are no respawns. There are no instant heal med kits and your health doesn't regenerate by taking cover. Battles are fought under harsh conditons and go on even if you are tired, hungry, and thirsty. Even the best and most skilled soldiers can be taken down by a random bullet or bomb. I also wonder if infantry trainers don't often pull their hair out trying to train young recruits raised on COD and Halo to convince them that running and gunning is instant death a real war and that teamwork and small unit tactics carry the day in real battle.
They need to develop some unique games that exponentially differentiates the PS3 from Xbox 360 and Wii. The only thing I see on the horizon is MGS 4 which isn't enough............Xbox 360 has so many stellar titles out now plus a slew of promising titles in development that it won't be enough to match Xbox 360...... they will have to somehow exceed what the 360 can do or else they will never catch up. Sony has put themselves into the exact position that Microsoft was in with the original X box.....late to the party. My observation is that third party developers generally developed multi platform titles for the previous generation with the PS2 in mind as the lowest common denominator. Therefore the full technical capabilities of the original X box were never fully utilized EXCEPT for the X box exclusives, like Halo, Far Cry, etc. As good as those exclusives were they weren't enough for the original X box to overtake the PS2. Now Sony is in catch up mode with a more expensive box and a not so hot game lineup. If the PS3 is truly technically superior to the 360 they need to quickly come up with a suite of games that showcase that superiority in spades or the PS3 is going to go the way of the Betamax. Microsoft is a tenacious competitor.......and when they get a lead.....look out. Sony can do it........but they need to cowboy up and get into the rodeo....nobody is going to hand it to them.
