Having read the whole article in the link....

If you simply send them off for repair/replacement, no proof of purchase is required. Only when you want money back are you required to show that you purchased the console (an attempt to combat people buying dead 360s on ebay and then complaining to microsoft that this is their fourth console and they demand compensation).

Next laughable point: they claim to have spent one and a half thousand bucks on three xbox 360s, in cash. Yet they claim they bought them from HMV; a standard DVD, music and videogame chain in the UK. Why did they pay so much over the odds if they bought them at launch from a store which only sells at RRP like any other store? :?

And when they're offered replacement 360s while theres are being repaired... they turn it down because not everybody is? They want them to send a new 360 to everybody to play on while they wait two weeks to have theirs returned to them? What do they do with all these 360s when they aren't being used? Have them sit around on shelves.

That whole article is just embarrassing.

RROD is rediculous. But at the very least i can say that microsoft customer service is great about it. You ring them, you tell you have the RROD and straight away BAM - what's your address please? We're sending you a box. Notice how they chose not to say what the "it's more complicated" actually entails?

Far as i'm concerned this is sensationalist nonsense intended to garner up a bit of traffic. Good luck to them.

EDIT: having just seen the number of logos and images on their site created in MS paint, i'd just like to reiterate how little anybody cares about this. :P

So your thread title is basically false? :|

He's simply saying what everybody here says so often. More players does not equal more fun. Unless you can pull it off in a creative and seemless manner, like Battlefield, you just end up in a game where you may as well be playing 10 players; you're just shooting and being killed by different people each time.

Also; i think downloading the SDK and making your games via steamworks is something a small development house with a budget might enjoy. XNA is more of a simplified series of development tools designed for the creation of smaller, simpler, downloadable games.

XNA is only $99 if you want to upload your games to the marketplace. You can stick it on the PC if you like, for free, and still use the XNA toolds.

I had to say, while i dont really have any beef with the graphics, i did think the character models were embarrassingly last gen. The contour of the guy's head is still made up of very noticeable straight lines, like a hexagon rather than a sphere. Hands too, still have that carved out of wood look. Finally, clothes. Every other developer seem to have made the character model and the stuff they're wearing separate this gen. Rockstar's models still have that "painted on" look.

No it doesnt bother me, I just think its funny how so many people who have no deving experience somehow think that these tools will create a whole bunch of amazing games for the 360. Most of the people hyping XNA have no intention of ever using it, they just hope indie developers will wast time and money to make games for their 360. The funny thing is they have had the ability to make indie games on the PC for years and are making tons of them still. The PC also has a larger audience.

But hey, here's to hoping.

No offense but you sound like an angry fanboy who simply doesn't want an innovative and creative new idea to catch on. I think it's a wonderful idea. There have already been great games made by people who just entered microsoft's contest in just four months. Four months and they're already publishing people's games. You have a very defeatist attitude towards this and i think you're vastly underestimating people's creativity and committment to making games and the amazing opportunity of having them published by a company like microsoft.

Some of you guys asking these very basic questions about where do i start? how do i make a game?.... Just dont bother. I doubt you'll get past the first hour or 2 before just completely giving up.

If you dont have either the dedication or drive to look this information up for yourself, just how exactly do you plan to get through dozens or even hundreds of hours of work to get a game done - let alone when you encounter a problem and need to find a solution. You gonna ask in a forum every time you hit a speed bump?

Exactly. I mean questions like "i want to make a game but i dont know if everything is free?" just screams "i've no idea how games are made at all".

I really want to make a game but I don't no if everything is free though. Anyone else making a game can help? YoshiFan123

Of course it isn't free. And i dont mean to rain on your parade at all but if you honestly dont know anything about this at all you aren't going to be making a game. It takes years. A lot of commitment and a lot of skill and knowledge. You cant just download a bunch of freeware apps and make yourself an arcade title.

First you'll need all of the software you're going to use. Then you'll need to learn the appropriate coding languages. Then you'll need to sign up to the XNA Creators Club which is $99 a year and allows you to host your game for PC users and xbox games to play.

People then rate it, if it's rated highly enough and by enough people, it's sent to microsoft. They will then play it, test it, and publish it if they think people want it. It's an awful lot of work, and requires significant investment.

Trailer was a little disappointing. It's almost as if somebody managed to steal a few, very short clips and simply pasted them together for a 30 second sequence, then called it a trailer.

Oh wells.
