Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the only confirmed games Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, TLOU Factions sequel and that Horizon spin off for VR?

Also confirmed

  • God of War Ragnarok
  • Firewall Ultra
  • Stellar Blade
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Kotor Remake

These all seem likely based on the leaks / teases

  • Helldivers 2 - Nvidia leak and trailer leak
  • Horizon Online - recent leak
  • Death Stranding 2 - Kojima teases , and recent leak supports it
  • Twisted Metal - per Tom Henderson , and recent leak supports it
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2 - an expected release - Hit new IP with 10+ million sold

No. Not yet anyway.

My history with GTA

  • GTA III - I played through a good portion of it. Even with resorting to weapon cheats I got frustrated with it at some point and never finished it.
  • GTA SA - I rented it and sent it back after a couple of hours played. I didn't like what I played.
  • GTA IV - I rented it and sent it back after about 8 hours played. I didn't enjoy it enough to keep playing.
  • GTA V - I rented it and finshed it. Pretty good , but I had hoped the gameplay/controls were better. I didn't play any online.

  1. Mega hype - God of War Ragnarok
  2. Good hype - Spider-Man 2

Some hype , Hope-hype , or Interest/Anticipation - Final Fantasy games, The Callisto Protocol , Black Myth: Wukong , Wolverine , The Last of Us Lookout , some remakes , etc.

I haven't played a lot of games this year so far and I spent 120+ hours on one game in Horizon Forbidden West.

  • 8.5 - Horizon Forbidden West - (platinum trophy) - Really great. Good improvements and additions from the first game - fighting against humans , melee combos , special abitities and skills , character models/animations , underwater , pullcaster , shieldwing , flying mount , etc.
  • 7.0 - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
  • 6.0 - Alan Wake Remastered - (first time player)

What about Sony's we have 50 or 60 games of all sizes in development for the next 3 years?

In June 2021 (last year) , Herman Hulst said their were more than 25 PlayStation Studios games in development with almost half being new IP's). No years were given.

  • 8-9 of the games - Gran Turismo 7 , Horizon Forbidden West , MLB The Show , The Last of Us Part I , God of War Ragnarok , The Last of Us Multiplayer , Spider-Man 2 , Wolverine , and they might count KOTOR
  • 2 games - Partnerships with Firewalk , Deviation
  • All of their other studios with unannounced games - Team Asobi , Bluepoint , Bend , Sucker Punch , Pixelopus , London , Firesprite , Haven , etc.
  • Any other potential partnership games - Helldivers 2 , PSVR 2 games , etc.

I believe him. It adds up. Makes sense.

I believe him too just that not all of those are new games but most likely re-releases, remasters/remakes, third party deals etc etc. All those to pad the numbers. They already released quite a lot of re-releases/remasters.

They obviously wouldn't count remasters / re-releases or the amount would be MUCH LARGER. They would count a remake like The Last of Us Part I that takes significant work. And they wouldn't count 3rd parties. Just the PlayStation Studios published games from partners like Microsoft or Nintendo would. PlayStation Studios =/= Sony's owned studios only. You should know this by now.

  • Herman Hulst would count these as PlayStation Studios games for some examples - Demon's Souls , Sackboy A Big Adventure , Returnal , and Destruction AllStars. It's just the reality of what he's talking about.

Companies should waste gamers time announcing games more than a year away.

Should or shouldn't ? Anyway , I think Sony is doing ok so far , although the numbers are skewed because of the launch -

Announcement > to > release

  • 3 months - The Last of Us Part I
  • 5 months - Demon's Souls
  • 5 months - Spider-Man Miles Morales
  • 5 months - Astro's Playroom
  • 5 months - Sackboy A Big Adventure
  • 8 months - Destruction AllStars
  • 10 months - Returnal
  • 12 months - Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
  • 20 months- Horizon Forbidden West
  • 21 months - Gran Turismo 7
  • God of War Ragnarok - ???
  • Spider-Man 2 - ???
  • Wolverine - ???
  • Horizon Call of the Mountain - ???
  • The Last of Us multiplar ???

Wolverine seems like an anomaly. They wanted to give a a true surprise and were upfront about where it was in development.

I'm fine with -

  • About 2 years - Most big games
  • 1-2 years - Big , Medium , and small games
  • Year or less - Remakes or smaller games
  • 1 early bomb drop like Wolverine to get ahead of leaks is probably good enough for the entire gen. Some leaks can be really fun sometimes and still blow us away when announced - Bloodborne , Horizon , God of War , etc.

Kotor is not Playstation studios. Not sure how they would count that.

Kotor is not Playstation studios. Not sure how they would count that.

They are publishing the PS5 version , and it was branded with the PlayStation Studios logo. They might have a small hand in helping with the development. It's a unique situation. They may or may not count it (like I said). It doesn't matter much to the overall number or the greater point. If they aren't counting it , it would be 26 games instead of 27 , or 27 games instead of 28 , and so on.

Horizon Forbidden West - post game content / Platinum push. I already put 115 hours into the game and there's more to do and see.

  • 1 more Cauldron to do
  • Some rebel outposts / camps to do
  • Some Melee pits
  • Some Camp trials
  • The Arena
  • Some Contracts
  • Races
  • Strike game
  • Upgrades for trophies
  • Unexplored areas and unexplored ? marks

The game is MASSIVE, and it's such a fun world to hang out in and fight in.
