Microsoft is the main innovator in the video game industry today. Xbox Live was major innovation, mandatory hard drives was a major innovation, achievements... without MS, Sony would be lost right now.

So now Microsoft is innovating by finally pushing those stupid retail discs out of the way, making room for the future: digital distribution. Discs are a thing of the past, no one buys CDs anymore, no one buys DVDs or Blu-ray movies anymore, it's all digital distribution now. MS couldn't go full DD because retailers wouldn't like that, so MS is slowly transitioning to full DD.

In about 3 years no one will care about Microsoft's used game policy because we will be in a full digital distribution world. We want to live in a world where it's ONLY DD.

AHUGECAT

Really? No one buys Blu-ray movies any more? Ha! HaHa! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

(((53 DVD Movies and 98 Blu-ray Movies in my own personal collection and while I admit I don't buy many DVDs any more, I usually have 3-4 Blu-ray movies on preorder at any given moment.)))

Additionally, half the planet does not even have dial up internet. I think it will be a while before DD of HD material kills the disc.

We all know DR3 is a timed exclusive but the question is: when will it get ported to the ps4? I say 6 months after release.

Why not just be smart and buy both consoles like the rest of us?

I'd like to see different content avenues delivered first, (Ultra-High Definition Disc of some type, streaming over broadband ect).

There is so very little content. Not worried about the prices, they will come down fast enough.

Remember 'enhanced definition' TV? They were 480P sets and the trend lasted 2-3 years as we transitioned

into 720p/1080i. Like 480P flat panels were, some think 4K will just be a brief pause (2-3 years) before seeing 8K sets.

Would love a 60" Samsung 4K ultra-slim (1") OLED with 3D processors built in. Don't care too much for 3D with glasses, but

the 3D video processors (like I have in my current Samsung), really make the picture pop.

The best XBO could hope for is to be even with PS4.

XBO cost more and has less power....

deal with it

FragTycoon

You get what you pay for.

Especially in this case.

You pay more for XB1 and you get more.

You pay less for the PS4 and you get less.

I know gameplay > graphics (and both consoles will have games with great gameplay), but for sake of discussion, is it possible that some Xbox One games might have graphics not possible on the PS4 due to the cloud technology that the Xbox One will use?

Just curious as to everyone's thoughts on that.

Anyone who doubts it will be in for a very rude awakening.

hi guys and girls

just want to know whats so special about the cloud , because alot of people mentioning about it , but no one explained or gave an example of what the cloud can do .

so please convince me that the cloud will take gaming to another level !

thanx.

ROCKINGFOOL

Both MS and Sony have 'clouds'. However, each uses their clouds for different things.

Sony's cloud will be used to save games, stream HD video (and probably 4K video which is super cool), and Sony's cloud may reissue older PS3 and PS2 games for free or at a discount (hopefully they will not charge full price).

MS's cloud will be used to save games, stream HD video and will provide a massive amount of raw processing power. How much processing power? It will be like owning 4 XB1 all hooked up together, and that is a lot of power.

Lems have been on a rampage lately... is it fear of the PS4?

Vatusus

Lems, cows and fanboys are words to describe irrational, mentally disabled Sony fans, not MS fans.

Sony might be able to compete with MS someday far in the future if they can manage to keep their online service up without crashing or getting hacked all the time.

No they can't. Sony is so far behind MS in terms of cloud technology. Don't you think Sony would be touting it if they could do it? No, what they have is a service to let you buy the PS3 games you've already purchased. Hooray.superclocked

Please the whole new data center will be ready by 2015,so basically what the xbox one will use is not even close to 300,000 at launch,so basically you are buying a promess.

Microsoft has more servers than Sony could dream of. I get that the Playstation 4's GPU has more horsepower, but you need to admit to yourself that Microsoft and the XBox One have advantages, too...

Lemmings, cows and fanboys have the IQ of a rock, so it's unlikely they will never be able to admit anything to themselves. lol.

PS4
Better GPU should result in better exclusive games, maybe better multiplat but probably minimal
Similar CPU but simpler architecture
Cheaper at launch
30 exclusive games in development 20 in first year. But havent told us what most of them are yet
PS3 had about 210 exclusive games
PS eye separate (to enable it to be cheaper), but could lead to not much being developed for it
Good indie support
Cloud improving and will improve more now there is charge for it
New controller but needs eye to make use of some features
Backward compatible via the cloud but probably at extra cost
Much better PR so far
You get some good stuff without paying a subscription
Free PS+ version of that driving game, not full version but enough to get going.
3 free indie games at launch

Xbox One
Similar CPU but more complex architecture
Includes a far superior Kinect and is building its OS around it. More chance of it being used in innovative ways in games.
15 Exclusives in first year
$1billion on exclusive content, used on 15 exclusives and ensuring Xbox gets games and DLC first as well as other things such as Halo TV. Sounds a lot but dont know how this compares to Sonys investment
Windows 8 apps support coming, opens door for indie games and old Xbox games amongst load more. Including loads of free and low cost games.(100k+ apps now on store)
New controller with a few improvements
Xbox 360 had 243 exclusives
Cloud is superior to any other offering based on what we know now. Had a good foundation to build on. 300,000 servers and low costs to developers.
Free cut down version of that fighiting game and Free full game in Project spark
Plenty of money for future PR, but need to make up for a lot of mess ups

A long way to go, something for everyone. Pays your money you takes your choice.

Microsoft haven't really showed what Xbox One can do and Sony haven't really showed us what other games they got. Without either you don't have a full picture. But the for me now, Xbox One offers more variety in games and entertainment and love the new Kinect. I'll get a PS4 when I know what other games are and I can see those graphics being superior.

Well, most everything you list here looks good, EXCEPT one rather big mistake under the XB1.

The XB1 controller has undergone A LOT of changes, not just a few.

40 changes in all. See here: http://www.christianpost.com/news/xbox-one-controller-vs-xbox-360-controller-microsoft-claims-40-new-improvements-98786/

Plus Kinect 2.0 will in fact be tracking your controller and your body movements, (even in NON-kinect games).
