This is a great topic of discussion, one I've found myself thinking about more and more recently. I think that the form of storytelling games use will be more important moving into the next decade, rather than traditional gameplay changes.
I agree with the fact that it can be a byproduct of your upbringing, but I don't think it's just the parents' fault. Some kids just have a more addictive personality than others. It's all about what interests them. If the parents see that they do nothing else, then yes, obviously they should step in, but I also don't think that parents should force their kids to do only what they want them to do. You have to get a balance.
