Why? it's the highest scoring WRPG ever, both on the PS3 & X360, as well as outscoring every console RPG of last gen. (correct me if i'm wrong, though.) it's second only to Chrono Cross, (again, correct me if i'm wrong.) it's won numerous GOTY awards and is pretty much a part of everybody's gaming library. not only that, but it's the first RPG of this gen to receive an AAA score.
there are those who will disagree, and i would like to hear their opinion on the matter. some may criticize that it's 'too easy', but thats what the difficulty slider is there for. there is so much content in this game that its unbelievable. i mean, the game has bookstores in it. you can literaly spend hours just reading the lore of Tamriel. it's also one of the few RPG's that never feel like a chore to play. thats because the combat is top-notch, and the spell casting is surprisingly deep. crysis was good at what it is, an fps. Oblivion blew as an rpg. Simple as that. They both share in common = top of the line graphics for their time. Thats the reason why they were hailed the best of their genres. The graphics.

0 good aspects compared to some of the better rpgs released 7+ years before it. Level scaling,empty environments, poor storyline,very poor storyline, boring world.
Yes, although I haven't played through all of it, Oblivion is still a very overrated and quite unpolished game in my opinion. Very disappointing considering the hype and reviews surrounding it.
Oh well, I won my copy in a competition so at least I didn't waste my money!!
