"Minimal educational tools"? I can't agree with that.
If your point is that the game doesn't teach you how to play fighting games in general, that is correct. But if you already have fundamental knowledge, the game provides some excellent in-game tools.
In the pause menu of the game itself is full move information and frame data, something that you practically never see. You can instantly see the exact properties of your moves and therefore use them in the correct situations.
The training mode, aside from being incredibly robust in and of itself, is also available with online multiplayer. This is perhaps one of the biggest educational tools and a godsend for anyone with interest in competitive fighters, and friends that want to break down the game with them.
I really think that NRS has gone out of their way to make this not only a complex fighter, but also given the players the tools necessary to completely break this game down at a competitive level with ease.
