NCIX has a 2500K for ~$200 before shipping.

THanks man I went ahead and snagged that steal lol. THat's the cheapest I've seen around. I paid 200 plus 3 bucks for insurance... not bad. Even got a nvidia GTX 570 evga for 270 bucks NEW. Couldn't resist the prices.

This is a stupid question but, they are going to be pci express 3.0? If so they will probably be compatible with 2.0 I would assume... lol

I built this on newegg. Tell me what you think.

i5-2500k Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz(3.7 tubro) - 229.99

Asus P8Z68 Intel Z68 Motherboard - 199.99

Corsair Vengence 8GB (2x4GB) 44.99

OCZ ZT Series 750W Fully-Modular 80Plus 109.99

Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256 bit 169.99

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM 84.99

Corsair Obisidian Series 650D 189.99

LG 22X DVD burner - 16.99

Total $1046.92

Spot on processor, I hear great things about it! Very similar to what I'm getting but why the overpriced motherboard? Assuming your not going to use SLI or Crossfire (which I plan on not doing) you can get a decent Z68 motherboard for 85 to 120 bucks (includes pci slot as well). Like the other guy said get AT LEAST a 6950 or a 560. I'm gonna buy my parts and use what video card I already have and wait for the 7850 and 7870s to be released.

Indeed I am going to be ordering parts when I have time just to set my PC up, but I'm not ordering a grahics card yet for that reason.

Holding off I guess then. I might just build my pc and use my nvidia 8800 GT for now. I didn't realize this tech was relatively old, I'm out of the loop these days. So hopefully the 7870 has similar price to the 6970.

Yeah after finding out about the 6950 being unable to flash now, I am considering the 570 as it performs better then the 6970 in most games apparently. I've found a evga 570 for 325 on newegg. Seems like a good deal as the 560i that's in between the 560 and the 570 is only 25 bucks less... not really worth it. So far my setup is a core i5 2500k, 8 gb ram (4 x 2), and nvidia 570. I'm just replacing my old mobo (my case, psu, and sound card still pretty good). My only gripe is I'm gonna have to take out my power supply to check to make sure it has 750 watts as the sticker is on the side opposite the opening of the case. BF3 here I come. That core i5 is a saver, I'm using that extra 100 saved for the GPU.

I'm going to get the 6950 and flash the bios to unlock it to a 6970. I looked it up and you can do that as it seems. The saphire version is cheapest and comes with 2gb along with 2 giant fans awesome!

Because of the money I've save on the cpu I'm buying (core i5 2500k instead of the i7 2600k) I can afford a 6970 or a 570... my question is, is it actually worth the extra cash for these cards? Should I just go with a 6950 or a gtx 560 and overclock them? If the performance won't be that different, I would rather get the cheaper card. Also I plan to play BF3 at 1680 x 1050 with all settings highest.. So many options! What ever card you guys think is good, should I go with ATI or NVIDIA? I went with NVIDIA back in the 7800/8800 era, but I'm not caught up these days. Thanks guys!
