I'll try to get to this eventually, but for now I'll just note the exploitative practice starting with GoWIII's DLC handling boded poorly going into GoW:A (forced multiplayer focus wrecked the formula and franchise). Nu-GoW just completed that betrayal of the core fans. Ya love to see it.

Just like the devs (other than Derek) to the fans of GoW proper. This said, might be worth reporting on an actual cheat code being in GoW1/GoW2 found by "Wulf2k9" for unlocking 'everything' in the PS2 versions of the games. A neat finding after so many years (as reported on GFAQs).

Only to blow the good will on censorship and first-party IP bastardization (betraying fans). This while the 'cycle' is ending soon. Letting the US side run the place is a mistake (too subject to infiltration/subversion from non-gamer, political types). 'Journos' shilling for these things doesn't help (backing even the nonsense Blizzard got up to). Anti-consumer apologists who truly hate their readers, fans, etc. (projecting their own entitlement, no less *the nerve*).

>all this jabbering unrelated to NG+

Still carrying on about the time spent betraying fans, eh? I spent more time on GoW proper than he has making the damn things.

>GoW:A

Just admit it was an executive mandate (as Papy was made to). That the MP focus is what brought the quality down so sharply with the SP. Stop learning the wrong lessons (on purpose).

>fresh start

Didn't need or want a (soft) reboot. May as well have been a different IP (but Sony wouldn't go for it, so this franchise was taken for a ride a second time in a row).

>giving fans what they want is a bad thing

But turning your back to them is 'good'? The "stress", "fear", etc. suffered isn't nearly enough to make-up for having done this.

>just go play the others

The only one I have to stomach finishing my plate with is GoW:A (the red-headed, step-child as it is). There isn't more to be done for a vet among vets. There isn't more to get out of them when you've done the work I have. Replaying aimlessly is the stuff of children. I'm well and beyond that phase (ended in the first year with GoW1 when shifting to challenge runs).

NOTE: For an 'ideas' guy to be so lacking as to not see the value in taking what worked, learning from what didn't, etc. then borrowing from peers and trying new ideas of their own for a sequel...Just seems like cheating to entirely abandon the formula (just to re-use the old in this new frame). Story-centric approach (where before the character and such were in service to the gameplay, not the other way around) is second only to the gameplay alteration in terms of insult. A glorified movie with over 4 hours of downtime (not great for speedrunning, replay, etc.). Unskippable cutscenes remain.

>history on companions

GoW1 was wise to abandon the dog and baby. Nu-GoW didn't learn its lesson (much as GoW:A didn't learn from the history of MP in the sub-genre).

>took away options from Kratos and gave them to boy

That's certainly one way to attempt forcing relevance on him. As with making it impossible to hit Revenants without a shot. Atrocious (much like the psuedo-rage of GoW:A).

>RE is to blame for confidence in identity swapping

No damn surprise there.

NOTE: Thanks for wasting my time with this sentimental downpour, GS. No actual info. Should have just said it was announced and we know jack. At most speculating on the things that could (and should) be done as with skipping cutscenes (maybe bouncing ahead through loadtime hiding tripe *give me the sweet loading screen to save time*) above all. Retaining the junk is pretty whatever. Costumes and cheats extend beyond NG+ as that content doesn't even exist in-game at this time (and with the mo-cap route, aren't at all likely beyond a palette swap *like the infamous Dark Odyssey/Fear Kratos*). They didn't even have the sense to make a way to regain his old 'armor' (going without armor being a means for him to appear more brutal as per Jaffe's intent in making him based on the Neo-Nazi Edward Norton played in American History X).

@doctor_mg: >this is Nu-GoW

>movie sucks

That's right. It does. While I have your attention, might you wish to learn the ropes with GoW proper? I wouldn't mind instructing you. You'll be crushing VH NUR and higher with ease before long.

Amusing to see GS fall so low.

>5 minutes talking up some movie

How did it come to this?

>know-nothing casual speaking out of turn

Nothing new here. Still, if you just wanted to learn the ropes with GoW proper, you should have just said so more clearly, Trans.

>game

Movie. An overly long, glorified case at that. Sony seems to find it amusing to turn exclusives into shitty TLoU clones (walking simulators with undesirable AI partners *annoying children no less*). Makes one wish failure upon them as a whole for their stupidity.

>turned away from 'obscure Greek' for 'various' more obscure things

Mayan? Really? Even Babylonian is better known. It would be one thing to ignore sense for the change in venue and pantheon while retaining GoW's formula of HnS, but to abandon not only HnS, but proper gameplay in favor of what is sure to be a very meh story? What a grand fall from grace (and waste of an IP *further sullied*).

>needed to be bigger

It was the biggest of its kind. Now it is no longer itself. The only issue it had was the same one that killed DMC (betraying its fans). This just completed that betrayal. No more, no less. Seems even Bayonetta won't escape this fate with the talk I've heard regarding Kamiya (like so many others, simply aging out of being fit for the lead in this franchise ill-suited to 'step-dad simulation').

>how it fell off the map

It wasn't about story. It was gameplay. Executive mandates pushed for PvP that was never going to work (not only taking resources from the PvE, but bastardizing even it). Making it the true focus (borrowing the franchise name merely for false legitimacy). GoW:A failure was grand enough to truly cause a "wane" in the community (making even vets lose much of their will to continue playing), but this? This nu-GoW business is just assaulting a man in a coma. While not dead, the fanbase is in a sorry state, to be sure (I'm left with basically just Latin America for new students to teach how to get good).

>more emotion

I don't care. They want a new audience, so they shall have it. Old fans are not on board with this (vet or otherwise) betrayal (even more egregious than with GoW:A). They want to blow money on some pet project about being a dad, they can pay for it out of pocket.

>no multi-player

Not sure how a movie would have this, anyway.

>release date

The month of Ares (Mars) seems to be a favorite (March). It would be odd if they didn't push for it.

>25-35 hours

More likely 15-20 hours. Still, that's a pretty long movie.
