I once played this game years ago for ps2 and I really wanna remember the name, I did only play it once so details are pretty bad - it's for ps2 - i think the graphics are cell shaded - it's a action game - it's set in the future - pretty sure there are three playable characters, two girls and 1 guy i remember one girl is blonde and wears a pink outfit that's all I remember atm D: any help would be appreciated! Connetta

Was it Rogue Galaxy?

Let me just explain WHY the NES is not that durable, because people will get confused. Two reasons: Sensitivity of the 72 pin connector, (where you push in your games) and sensitivity of the games themselves. The biggest problem people have is glitchy graphics or no graphics/sound at all upon start up. THIS IS EASILY FIXABLE, IT'S JUST A PAIN. The 72 Pin connectors can get dirt and dust stuck in them, worse yet the pins can get loose...If yours is having a problem I STRONGLY recommend buying another one! They are about TWO BUCKS on Amazon and if you have the right screwdrivers you can easily find a tutorial to easily replace it!!

As far as the games go, you should also find a good tutorial, and you have one of two options...You could take it apart, in which case you'd need a special screwdriver just for NES carts and some other Nintendo products, and then scrub the contacts with an eraser or rub it with a Q-Tip with Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol on it, or just do the same but without taking it apart, I honestly think taking it apart is better. Here's the deal about the blowing in the cartridge controversy...It doesn't HELP it, but it doesn't REALLY hurt it either...Obviously, don't just go spitting in it, but really this only helps if there's DUST in it that can get blown right out...99% of the time it's DIRT that's literally STUCK on it and has to be SCRUBBED off. Here are some great pictures of that, the first is completely dirty, the second has the right side cleaned:

CREDIT:http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/nes_mod/nes_mod_en.php

http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/nes_mod/images_cart_maintenance/dirty_th.jpg

http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/nes_mod/images_cart_maintenance/half_cleaned_th.jpg

Also, note how NES games work: About SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT of the cartridge is EMPTY SPACE, (This is because the actual game took up most of the Famicom Cartridges, but Nintendo of America wanted to steadily enter the American market that had suffered from the crash of '83 and thus made it slightly resemble a VCR, the cartridges had to be bigger to remove them from the oddly designed system) one part of it is the chips (Which you DO NOT touch) and the other the connectors, connected to the actual data, or the chips. So you just clean the connectors.

I've also heard that since the NES is large and has much empty space, dust can get stuck in it. In this case, just take it apart and get that dust out. If anyone needs help, just ask me, and also the NES is the easiest cl@ssic system that you can find help for online, for it is extremely amazing and popular but also extremely prone to problems...I strongly recommend getting a Model 2 North American NES (A Model 1 is about 40 or 50 in good condition, Model 2 is about 90 however) or a Famicom (About 60 to 70 bucks on eBay) with a 60 (Famicom) to 72 (NES) pin converter to play NES games on a Famicom (72 to 60 Pin would be for playing Famicom games on an NES) Go here for help on that, and also Famicoms are recommended for support for the excellent Famicom Disk System:

http://www.jandar.net/famiconv/

I do NOT recommend getting a third party NES, they are very prone to breakage and problems and are not nearly as accurate as the real deal, sound, graphics, and frame rate are off. Trust me, I have a broken FCTwin.

Good luck to you all, and remember, the system doesn't suck because its durability does.

So back in the days of the SNES and Genesis/Megadrive, there where two great side scrolling beat em' ups. But which one was better? You decide! Im going with Streets of Rage.ONLYDOD

It's a close call but Streets of Rage, and JUST for 2 mind you. Streets of Rage 1 and 3 I guess were decent enough but I really don't care for them, Final Fight 1 is the best in the series but 2 and 3 are also pretty awesome, I think it actually goes 1, 3 and 2. Final Fight received an absolutely HORRID SNES port that did away with Guy and a level, (plus the American version was censored) they later made Final Fight Guy but the IDIOTS took out Cody so it was just Guy and Haggard...Good thing it's on Capcom Classics Volume 1 for Gamecube, XBOX and PS2 and done even greater justice in Final Fight Double Impact alongside Magic Sword on the PS3 and 360. Also, just get the freaking cartridge for Streets of Rage 2, it's the original (There was no Arcade) and collections/downloadable emulations can't do it justice.

So why do I like Streets of Rage 2 better than Final Fight 1? Well, first, although they both have PHENOMENAL soundtracks Streets of Rage 2 wins, just listen to the first stage song and you'll see what I mean. Not to mention it's a console exclusive, so tons of difficulty and lives options andlevel select. You also get 4 far more better characters each who is unique. Streets of Rage 2 really mimicked Final Fight's control but drastically improved it: In Final Fight you had a combo on the ground, a special move, an attack for being stationary in the air, an attack for moving forward in the air, and an attack for holding down and being in the air...Streets of Rage 2 had all of that PLUS having another stronger special move when you hold right, tapping right or left twice and attacking for a dash move, and pressing attack and jump for a behind move (You press a separate button for special moves, versus Final Fight where you press attack and jump for a special but can also press a separate button) Finally, there's a greater variety in stages, and, while I don't know which engine can produce the greater graphics, Streets of Rage 2 generally looks more colorful and has more personality in terms of looks.

Oh geez...Of course the NES wins. No one gets that the Atari 2600 was far more revolutionary. The Fairchild Channel F was the first to use changable ROM cartridges but the Atari 2600 popularized it, and it also pretty much popularized video games in general, the only video game that was really popular before it was Pong, also made by Atari. It is the most popular and longest running video game console of all time, going from 1977 to 1991, 14 years. It had a huge library of many addicting titles, but here's probably why more people voted for the NES:

1) OH MY GAWD IT'S NINTENDO'S FIRST SYSTEM!!!---Well it's actually their third, the Color TV Game 6 and 15 came first, but that's beside the point. Sure, it took the market out of the crash of '83, but it wouldn't have even existed had it not been for the 2600.

2) BETTER GRAFIX---Yes, the graphics are superior, but are the games? At its initial release, the Atari 2600 had the best games around. It was eventually completely out done by the 5200, Intellivision, Colecovision and many home computers in the audial/visual department, but it still remained the most popular for its huge library of games and immense playability, that is until 1983.

3) BETTER GAMEZ---Here's the complaint I hear the most with the 2600: "OH MY GAWD IN ATARI 2600 GAMES IT'S JUST THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND ALL YOU GET IS POINTS BUTT YOU CAN BEAT NES GAMEZ!!!" Want to know why? Because that wasn't what was popular a the time, video games were still growing and at the moment most of the them were Arcade Style. In my opinion, this is much better than beating a game. High Score Arcade games offer endless entertainment, you can always get a higher score. But you can 100% complete ZELDAR TWILIT PERNCESS, and then what? They're not repetitive, because they get HARDER. My friend, for example, can just not understand this. The games are still just as fun to play as they were in the late 70s, early 80s, facts are facts.

And why the Intellivision, Colecovision, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Magnavox Odyssey 2 and SG-1000 aren't choices is BEYOND me.

I agree that Atari 2600 was revolutionary, and I also agree that NES wins. But I just wanted to point out one thing: Atari 2600 is not the longest running video game console. Neo Geo AES beats it by a single year. It was released in 1990, and the last official release for it was in 2005; giving it a 15-year lifespan.

Thanks for letting me in on that, and what I meant is that the NES shouldn't have one, the Atari should. I changed it to "The longest running system behind the Neo Geo AES, but of course it was also much more popular."

There is a begginer's hall right there. You really can't miss it. I can't remember the exact location of the begginner's hall because I don't have a save file right on hand. With that said it is right there next to where the shops are. just examine each building in that area or where any buildings are for that matter and you will find it. If memory serves me correctly you have to go down stairs to get to it. Really though none of this matters. There is enemy skill materia scattered all throughout the world. You are bound to find some eventually.

0diN_7

There are only 4 Enemy Skill Materia in the entire game. I missed one and can't get it again until Disc 2 and I am less than halfway through Disc 1, so this will be my only one for a LONG time. Please watch the video and see which building I'm talking about, I tried it and every single building next to it, I stressed every possibility, I spent at least half an hour looking for the damn thing, and nothing. I really, really need help with this and you aren't being specific enough. CAN I get it without being in the Shinra Soldier disguise? Is this Beginner's Hall in the building that is shown in the video I linked to? How do I get into the Beginner's Hall when there is only one Soldier who doesn't say anything important? I can't believe no one knows this.

Speaking of FF7... I remember owning the official strat guide for this game, and how stunnedly awesome it was when I actually found a hidden Ribbon (near the end of the first disc) that wasn't even visible in the book's maps. By the end of the game, this allowed me to have two ribbons. My question is... is it possible to get more? At least one more so I could outfit a team of three with Ribbons. Figures that Final Fantasy of all things would make something like a ribbon actually manly and worth equipping. :lol:codezer0

Please don't change the subject. I really need help with this and so far I'm not getting any.

It has an amazing library with amazing exclusives, and much better graphics than either the PS2 or Gamecube, making actually most games on it that aren't exclusives the best versions you can get. It also HAD much better online than the PS2 or Gamecube, but you had to pay and it is now gone.

*********************************************

Best Exclusives:

Halo (Do I really need to say anything here?)

Doom 3 (One of the best FPSs every made, huge, dark world with amazing atmosphere, visuals, and sound)

Doom 3 Collector's Edition (Contains Doom 1, its fourth episode, and Doom 2, their only flaws are cheats being done by actions which means accidents)

Halo 2 (Unfortunately has a shorter and what many consider to be a less appealing campaign than the original, but still probably a must buy)

Conker Reloaded (A remake of the N64 cl@ssic with updated visuals that look amazing, unfortunately some scenes are removed and it contains a new multiplayer)

Ninja Gaiden (Just an amazing exclusive and hack and slash stealth game, contains first 3 NES games as well)

Ninja Gaiden Black (A modified Ninja Gaiden, get it for its inclusion of the Arcade Game)

Far Cry Instincts (Adaptation from the PC FPS but considered by many to be even better, unrivaled graphics and uniqueness and compelling environments and gameplay)

Half Life 2 (ON PS3 and 360 as Orange Box, but this is still a great version and isn't on Gamecube/PS2, no E1 or E2)

Fable (Deep and engaging RPG that does not require online)

Dead or Alive 3 (Amazing fighting game that's a sequel to the legendary Dreamcast exclusive)

Gemma Onimusha (Not just a port of Onimusha for PS2 but has many changes and is generally more challenging, obviously better graphics too)

*********************************************

Both controllers are unique and pretty darn good. The first one is quite bulky and it has an interesting digital disc that is ideal for the Intellivision Lives collection, satisfying to press but stretched buttons, and decent analog sticks, the second one has perfect circle buttons but are still great fun to press, much better analog sticks with thumb imprints, and a changed digital pad that is smooth versus concaved and has a plus shape on it that doesn't serve a real purpose. However the biggest change is probably the huge triggers which are ideal for FPSs.

The console design is also bulky but very stylish, iconic and recognizable, with a huge X on it. The console itself is extremely durable and unprone to breakage. And, lol, this is all research, I don't even have one, but trust me, I WANT one! The 360 is NOT a replacement for this because it is not compatible with all games but only about 100. I'm getting this and a PS3 versus a 360.

Use a faq for god's sake! Here's the link: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197341-final-fantasy-vii/faqs

Gue1

Read the topic for god's sake! I tried every FAQ on GameFaqs, and even the starred ones didn't help.

I'm pretty sure this is the FOURTH time I've had to ask a question about this damn game.

I missed the Enemy Skill Materia in Junon, and I went to get it back. This is what a FAQ says:

*****************

As previously mentioned, the first store with the man out front is the Materia Shop.Be sure to pick up Revive.Next over is an alley with Weapon Shop. Downstairs you can find and speak to Rude of the Turks if you wish.Next in line is the item shop, followed by a single house.Go inside and up the stairs, on this floor you will find a 1/35 Soldier, Mind Source and Luck Source. On the next floor are a Power Source and Guard Source.Return to the first floor of this house, there is a soldier guarding the entrance to a doorway somewhat hidden behind a wall.Speak to him and you will be granted access to the basement. This is another tutorial type area, but the most important item to pick up here is the Enemy Skill Materia.Leave the house.

*****************

OK, I'm sure I'm in the right house because there's a 1/35 Soldier, and all that stuff on the upper floor. I have no idea what he means by "The next floor," because the house only has two floors, and upper and lower one. He says there's a soldier guarding some entrance or something. There's ONE SOLDIER ON THE FIRST FLOOR, but when I talk to him he just says, "These barracks are for soldiers. This is no place for civilians." Obviously I remember dressing up as a Shinra Soldier earlier in the game, in which case he would have said something different, but as FAR AS I KNOW I can still get this Materia without being one. Apparently he's somewhat hidden. BS, there's no one there, THERE JUST ISN'T, JUST THAT ONE SOLDIER. Here's another FAQ:

*****************

The last door in this area leads to a housing area. Before you head up the stairs, check out the rather concealed soldier standing near the stairs. He'll lead you to the Beginner's Hall, and the ghosts of the people stayed behind in case you needed to know anything else about the game. In all seriousness, this is a place to ask anything basic regarding the game. Make sure you grab the Enemy Skill Materia before leaving.

*****************

OK, what's Beginner's Hall now? Apparently the Materia's there. I'm just so confused and desparate, please, can an expert on this game be 1000000000000% specific and SURE about what I have to do to get this Materia!? PLEASE!?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJCIgV4GtUo#t=755

This is the house I'm talking about.
