Man you guys really do hate IW don't you. :P I must be some kind of weirdo. millerlight89You know, it's not that I hated IW. It actually wasn't, in and of itself, a bad game. What I hated was how it did absolutelty NO justice to the Deus Ex name, and as @rmfd341 point it, severly hamgstrung any future games.

I'll play this game again when they fix the annoying crackling popping noises issue.trastamad03
That may be something as simple as your sound card drivers. Try giving them an update :)
I have to ask the question; if all signs are pointing to it being "terrible", then why on Earth would you preorder it? :)So, I preordered it yesterday (from Greenmangaming of course). But I know almost nothing about it. All signs are pointing to it being terrible, those signs being a horrendous lack of info and gameplay demonstration, but a tiny tiny little bit of me holds out hope that it will be amazing.
Does anybody here have any sliver of information that might help strenghten that hope?

I'd have to say eith Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
To me Human Revolution has the same gritty feel that Deus Ex had. However the original was in a class of it's own. That doesn't mean I don't think HR is a great game, it is, however it's simply second best :)
The game has polish issues, but damn the game is fun as heck for me. I honestly feel killing zombies in this game is even more satisfying than L4D, and that's saying a lot. (Not that it's a better game than L4D) millerlight89Exactly! I fired up Dead Island last night and it is a blast to wail on zombies. My impression after about an hour was exactly the same as yours however, unpolished. It's certainly not "game of the year" material, but it is enjoyable :)
The Battlefield series have always been geared heavily towards multiplayer. In the past the single player missions have been derivative of the multiplayer maps. However like @mitu123 alluded to, there has been talk that B3 will contain a more detailed single player campaign. I'm going to wait and see how it all pans out before I buy the game....granted I did spend a lot of time playing Battle Field: 2142 with friends :)
I'd have to suggestion The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It's a really engrossing RPG that is 100% single player. I've lost hours to that game :)
