@TheZeroPercent: There's a bowstring in image 25 featuring the Horizon: Zero Dawn protagonist.

I'm usually a fan on indie games and I should give this game some slack for only costing 2$ full price, but this seems like an unusually high score for a game whose only noteworthy quality seems to be its social commentary.

Sounds like you spend 1/3rd of your time with this game watching the credits. That's ridiculous. The visuals are also a joke, and not in a good way. I have not played the game, so I could be missing something, but it looks like a miserable experience.

@stevhall88: User reviews and ratings are still very much postable on this site, just not until the game has been officially released (in this game's case, that will be tomorrow, the 7th).

@abcdefgabcdefgz "developers should be able to scan or do anything on your computer they want to find that stuff or stop it." I think that's going overboard. You'd have to give developers too much access to non-game files for that to be effective. I have no problem with them scanning the folders that store data for the game, but I don't want them scanning the rest of my computer.

Another good Reality Check. A minor nitpick: the last screen "Every Sunday 12PM Pacific" seems only true for YouTube, not here on Gamespot.

@blast880 Either you and I define high fantasy differently or I suggest you reexamine the older games. If we're talking 1-5 then I'd agree with you but 6-13 mostly all have varying levels of sci-fi mixed in. 9 is really the only pure high fantasy. This game looks like it'll fit right in with 7, 8, 13 and Advent Children. The massive scale of this world in particular looks very unique and not something that has been done much in video games (largely due to hardware restrictions).

It's the characters that I'm worried about. Their track record since 10 has been pretty bad with the exception of Auron and 12 didn't have anyone too annoying (as compared to Tidus or Vanille). I'd love to see a wider cast of characters that comes and goes throughout the game like 4 and 6.

@Blue_Donkeykong The way your post is written is misguiding and overly demonizing of Tanaka. The very thread you linked to is largely filled with people defending Tanaka. Yes there are a fair amount of posts saying something along the lines of "Tanaka won't be missed as a FFXI developer but I wish him no ill will as a person. Get better soon." And yes prior to his retirement announcement there were plenty of complaints, memes and jokes about him in regards to new FFXI content. However I do not think this reflects the view of the majority of the player base (the thread you linked is evidence to that). It was a relatively small but vocal portion of the players who were overestimating Tanaka's influence on the game.

As to "many players" doubting the fact that he's ill: I think you quoted the only post in that entire thread that brings up this idea (the same poster brings it up again a 2nd time). I'd like to bring up another quote "Then come vana'fest, the man looked pretty damn ill. Seriously, look at a pic from a year ago or so, then watch his vana'fest footage. I was talking about it with my friend and wife, and at the end he retired due to "health problems"."

Lastly I'd like to point out that the new expansion "Seekers of Adoulin" has to have been in development for a while now, meaning Tanaka had a hand in its creation and is in part responsible for its existence. FFXI is an aging game so I doubt a full expansion was an easy sell.

All that said, I do find myself in the camp of hoping that the game will improve now that he's gone. I just don't expect anything drastic.
