Two years ago, I posted in this thread and said the following:
AMD will get my money again when their CPU performs better then Intel's Core i7 with comparable power consumption.
I have seen the leaks. I have viewed the recent videos from known YouTube personalities. I have read Intel's recent statements and projected road maps. All of these grains of salt that we are taking are starting to taste really good.
I believe now is the time for me to switch. My current system isn't slow but my Mobo has had a few issues lately. Typically, I upgrade my CPU and GPU every three years but never on the same year. Last year, I upgraded from a GTX780. I do some media encoding so the extra cores will help.
CPU | RAM | MOBO | Cooler | Case | OS Drive.
A GTX 1080, PG279Q monitor and AX860 PSU will be leftovers from my current build not to mention my current OS SSD and storage HDDs.
I know AMD is "only" catching up to Intel. This is not a Core2Duo blowout from back in the day.
But with such a compelling price for performance ratio...
I have never owned a $1000 CPU before.
I can now get +/- the performance of one for 400 bucks with lower power consumption. Still buying the R7 1800x though :D
If you leave near a Microcenter you can grab that processor for a little cheaper. Find a way to squeeze in a SSD for you boot drive. Once you get one you won't go back. Does that motherboard have features you need? Maybe you can save a little going with a cheaper one.
That's a completely ridiculous way of judging a consoles worth. With this logic Sony should have just stuck with the PS1 for the past 20 years because what did the PS2 even bring to the table, you know, apart from improved processing power which allowed for more realistic and immerse worlds as well as new game types that were nowhere close to being possible on the PS1.
So here's what's unique about the PS4 and Xbox One: they have more power than any of the consoles before them and that's as a perfectly justifiable reason for them to exist.
DVD drive = More storage for games, DVD player,
@cejay0813:
As I said it was one spot that I notice the shadow/light source issue. It has now been fixed.
The toon I started on the PS4 is playable on the PS3. So far it appears the two don't share the same game world.
@CDWJUSTIN:
I notice one spot where my character's shadow wasn't being cast now is properly showing relative to the light source.
