What I dont understand is why would somebody blast a message out into space for Aliens to find, when the Aliens could be fighters and they'd know everything about us and could easily destroy us...

Way off man. Just cause they both take place on the modern battlefield doesn't mean they are the same. COD 4 and GRAW 2 are like apples and bowling balls. GRAW is the apple, you bite in and there are no suprises, nice, sweet, comforting in its normalness. COD the bowling ball will smash your teeth out of face your when you bite in. Then you'll drop it and crush your foot.XXMadManVII
