as gamespot really gone this far to prevent users from using adblock extensions? it is in their right to do so...

I think that the right of web-site owners to demand that their viewers run the risk of infections from malicious ads is a questionable right at best. It's about on par with a hospital demanding that visitors not wear masks to avoid viruses and bacteria or a pimp demanding that johns not use condoms in that technically they do have that right, but exercising it in any fashion is immoral at best.

The article I just read on wrestling roster changes that had no mention of DLCs for the game or being able to control wrestlers or the McMahon's and make them fight each other to the death reminded me that I'd really, really like a downvote button for articles. Positive feedback in isolation is about as useful as a sex toy made out of plutonium and just as toxic in the long run.

I can cope with the inane age checks. I can deal with the ads that show up every time, even the ads where you get "you can skip this ad in 15 seconds" messages that still force you to watch the entire 60s+ ad.

I'm not having too good of a time adjusting to this play list crap, however. How do I prevent this site from automatically redirecting me to another video, one which I probably didn't even want to watch to begin with, when the video I wanted to watch is done playing? I can't find any sort of check box for a "do/don't automatically redirect you to some video when the video you wanted to watch is already finished so you can't rewind/replay it without going back, doing another age check, and watching another ad" option in the account settings section.

The thing about turning vsync off is that if the framerate goes much higher than 60 fps you may have bugs with the physics. And the techniques you are talking about are used in games like uncharted and crysis 2, people drool over those games.

TerrorRizzing

I disabled it last night just to see what's going on with my frame rates and saw it range from 30-40 in Whiterun to 139-160 in dungeons. I also started seeing things like opening cell cages causing the contents to literally explode outwards. It's interesting at first, but not sure I'd want to keep playing like that.

Why would anyone want to disable V-sync? for the juice? In that case it's understandable..f22rf

It's quite simple. Vsync can, and for at least some games does, significantly lower your frame rate. Case in point, World of Warcraft. I can choose to either cruise around at 80-90 FPS or I can enable vsynch and cruise around at a variable rate between 40 and 60 FPS. Another issue is when developers code in a variable vsync limit and as a result you get capped at 30 FPS even though you'd otherwise be playing at a consistent 40-50 FPS. World of Warcraft is bad about this in some zones. I first realized the game did it in Scholozar Basin where with vsync on I was seeing 30 FPS everywhere despite pulling 40+ without it.

Two very good reasons right there. It can lower your frame rate to below the vsync cap, and if said cap is variable having your frame rate between preset limits could result in a lower frame rate than you "should" be getting.

Following a link from GameFAQs.com to watch this video, http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom-4/video/6338382/bluffers-guide-to-id-software, I got an age verification in the video window. I was unable to use the scroll bar for year of birth because every time I clicked in it, whether on the up/down arrows or the bar button itself, the entire box disappeared. I had to cycle through years with arrow keys.

After getting my date of birth squared away I proceeded to be annoyed by that sing-song Assassin's Creed ad video. The video proceeded to annoy me for 15-20 seconds after the little timer at the bottom of the video panel said the video would start. To repeat, when it ticked down from "Your video will start in 00:15" to "Your video will start in 00:00" the Assassin's Creed ad video kept on playing for a minimum of another 15 seconds instead of being appropriately short or being cut short to start the GameSpot video I wanted to watch.

Also, when trying to submit this post the first time "your" web-site auto-formatted the video link as an HTML link and then kicked back the following error:

Errors:
  1. - Tag a may not have attribute rel
  2. - If you are copying from a word processing software, try pasting the text into a plain text editor (e.g., Notepad) first.
  3. - If problems persist, try disabling the WYSIWYG editor in your preferences.

I wonder what he was trying to get that was "worth," at a low guestimate, 256 billion isk.

A fully officer fitted titan might cover half to two-thirds of that.
