Noooooooo!

Today is the last day of summer! Last day of freedom!

My school bag is about to burst-and I haven't even put all my stuff in it! Time for tests, exams, failures, teachers, school lunch, binders, books, homework and loads of other miscellaneous education crap that I hate! On the bright side this year I won't be playing WoW :P At least I get to go back to cross country. I'm trying to get all-year honor role this year I was so close to getting it last year.Yes, that means less gaming time

I'm Back

Yeah, I'm back from California. I went to the beach and some guy taught me how to surf on the towering Pacific waves. I fell off more times than I can count but I enjoyed myself anyway :D. I also played some games on his 360 and ps3. I played a game called Dead Rising which was a load of fun although it's a brain dead game. You're basically in a mall filled with zombies almost begging to be slaughtered with numerous weapons like DVD's, chainsaws, knives, pipes, clubs, bats, plants, pots, pans, cans, buckets, guns, blocks, CD's, and much more. Although the zombies are endless in numbers they're all weak which makes it even more fun when you're cutting through them like a knife through butter. I also had fun playing co-op in Gears of War and I played some GTA IV which was awesome. But Delta ruined the end of a perfect trip. They re-assigned us to so many flights that we got home 7 hours later then we originaly planned. I swear the CEO of Delta is either on crack or he is deliberately trying to make passengers trips a f****** nightmare. But overall the trip was still great so...

PS: Here's a good video of Dead Rising...

I'm in California!

Hey guys what's up?

I'm in a room at the "Hummingbird Inn" in California right now. Free internet! I had to wake up at 4:00 PM and go on two flights, on the second one some lady brought her dog which was whimpering loudly for the whole flight. By the time we were in the Midwest, I was going insane. Anyway, I'm seeing my cousin tonight. He's got surround sound and a huge TV which will make up for the fact that I'm going to be playing consoles with annoyingly located buttons. I'm probably going to be busy for the next couple of days so...

Goin' West...

Hey guys whats up?

First off, I've just gotten Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos (for $5! a bargain!). The game is simply amazing- way better than World of Warcraft will ever be. It's a bit like Warhammer 40k- in that it forces you to take the offensive rather than cower in your base until you have an army large enough to wipe out your foe. The story is told superbly via cut-scenes. The graphics weren't cutting-edge in 2003 and they're certainly not anything today. Also, there is no lip-sync which looks pretty awful. The characters just randomly open and close their mouths when they're talking. Which is a shame becuase the voice acting is top-notch. You're always playing to know what happens next. So far, I've finished the human campaign and am half-way through the undead campaign.

Secondly, I've just gotten my books for school. They scare me. All the books are huge and heavy-needless to say there is enough information in there to keep me bored for the best part of a year. On the bright side, my grades were high 80's low 90's last year which is good. The main reason I'm dreading school is the fact that my school is supposedly the best school in Savannah. (Trust me that's not saying much) So it attracts all of the rich snobs in town who talk about the elevators in their houses and the new Ferraris they have bought. Compared to them, I'm a dirt-covered peasant living in a mud hut. Obviously, most of them are not enjoyable schoolmates.

Thirdly, I'm going to California!:D My cousin is getting married so I've been forced to go across the country to watch him kiss the bride. (All my relatives in Australia aren't coming. They account for over 1/2 of the family! So I don't think the church will exactly be booming with people. Not a church-they're getting married on a beach!) I do know my cousin (the one getting married) has a X360. Maybe I could play some while I'm there :) I'm sort of dreading the wedding though...all the weddings I've attended ended in divorce! I've been to grand total of two. One of them required me to wear a tux, carry some rings, listen to the priest drone and then go to a long dinner ending with a speech. It took hours and they divorced only three months later! What a waste of a Friday afternoon...Anyway I'm going in two days and staying there for six. (I think) So...

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Hey guys whats up?

Yesterday I was at Circuit City and was pretty bored. So bored in fact that I went to an open ps3, and tried out some of the games on it. Played some racing game for a bit then I tried out Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. It was simply amazing.

First of all, the graphics were beautiful. The shadows and lighting were next to perfect. The water and grass looked superb. And the attention to detail was also great. There are your next-gen standard rag-doll physics as well as one effect that when Drake goes in water, his clothes are wet and sag down. (I think this effect is called wet-shirt physics)

Then the gameplay. It's an interesting combination of Gears of War and platformer. Like GOW, you can take cover behind objects and shoot your enemies from there. There are a fair amount of weapons to keep you happy like pistols and machine guns, and you can use combo attacks. Your enemies are pretty tough so you'll need to shoot quite a few rounds at them until they go quiet. The platformer gameplay is also done well here. All of the platforms looked natural so you were never wondering why that bar is randomly stuck in a tree. And you don't have to have precise timing either. It's really easy once you get the hang of it, and it can be fun as well.

Although I'm a PC gamer, I got used to the controls really quickly. The movement are all sharp and although there is no auto-aim, you'll be doing head shots in no time at all. I never use the combo attacks though because I can never remember exactly what buttons to grind at so I can take down my opponent. I just pump them full of lead until they go down. I didn't understand the story- mainly because the television there was muted. Curse you Circuit City!

Anyway, you should check this game out if you get the chance. Later guys :D

I Hate all MMO's! Besides WoW.

I am now seriously angry. And scared. By the time you read this, I may be dead or seriously injured because what I'm about to say may insult several million hardcore MMO fans. Alright a week ago I bought a copy of Guild Wars and started playing it. Half an hour later I was already sick of it and wondering if I could return it before GameStop closed. I didn't get a receit so I had to sell it at half the price I bought if for! 15 good dollars down the drain! The next day I made an account on Runescape and tried to get into it. Again, half an hour later I was booting up Oblivion. Then, I got a trial account on Everquest 2. Once again, I didn't get into it. So why was I doing all this? I loved Wow but I've played it to death by now. I want to find another MMO that I will like but none of them have that breezy nature that Wow does. You can create a pretty good level 20 character in a week in WoW. (I'm talking about a school week here. And no, I didn't fail school because of WoW. I actually still did pretty well in school when I was playing it) But once I left WoW and went into other MMO's, I realised that I'd have to grind to get anywhere. And I don't want to spend hours upon hours of my summer in front of a computer screen just so I can get a Magical Pixie Fire Sword. Yes, I may get hate-mail from Guild Wars fans saying I can make a PvP only character but I don't really want a purely PvP game. I'm not going to spend countless hours killing boars/dragons/rats/other miscellaneous fantasy creatures so I can level up. It's just a pointless exercise. The only people who do that are hardcore gaming gods that somehow have hundreds of hours of spare time to waste on grinding. So, I once was a member of the MMO community but am now an outcast. Heed my warning and don't waste your life on MMO grinding. Later guys 8)

Bad Movies

Hey guys- just wanted to say I've seen the movie Prince Caspian which is quite a bit like the game "Haze". (You know it gets a lot of hype and guess what? It sucks.) That's not to say Prince Caspian sucks but it does feel really un-natural. I've played Medieval Total War 2 for months now- needless to say I know a lot about strategy. Well the movie left me feeling a bit . For instance a few tiny little mice ran through a massive army killing loads of heavily armed men with little needles. A few ragtag animals somehow hold back an army!?!?!?!?!? The movie attempts to show loads of combat to keep it interesting but the combat just doesn't feel right. Also to anyone who actually read the book in the first place would know that the movie producer added a massive amount of s***. For instance, you see Prince Caspian and Susan kissing near the end of the film, and that never happened in the book. At all. Also, the Narnians attempt to storm the castle of Miraz. The whole scene of them storming the castle is 30+ minutes long. And none of that 30+minute scene ever happened in the book. Look, most people I know like to tell me I never compliment anything unless it's perfect. That's true. I like finding thing's to insult. Maybe I'm nit-picking. But if you've ever read the book or you are a strategy junkie, you can give this a pass. If you like movies that are based on books but have a whole load of love and other random stuff added to them you might want to check it out.

Also, another movie I've seen recently is Night of the Living Dead. Well I think that's the name anyway. I saw it when I was at a hotel with my cousin. Anyway I'm not sure if I've got the right title, so don't go looking for the movie under that title. I'm just guessing. That title best fits it anyway. So some guy is travelling down the highway in a desert when he gets stopped by a cop who just happens to be working for an ancient power of evil. So the cop puts him in the back of his car and coughs up some blood which looked pretty sick. He then takes him to a village that's full of (you guessed it) living dead. Another thing that adds to the creepy factor is that there are loads and loads of possessed German Sheperds who patrol and stand in formation. Yes, it's weird. Meanwhile, there are some people stuck in a large evil building that has dead prisoners hanging from the ceiling. It's almost comical to see a fan like this:

with people hanging off it. Anyway the people are waiting to be hung, when a little annoying kid that's with them suddenly realises the key and a gun are outside of his cell. So he breaks them all out and shoots some of the patrolling German sheperds and the movie continues with the people roaming around town seeing loads of really creepy stuff. Like when a lady uses a slot machine and all the slots surprisingly show...

Then a zombie comes out. The people in the movie are so stupid it's funny because they have a van and they can escape but they still want to go exploring an undead town. But the movie is just another generic horror movie that has some large gaps. For instance, you never see the dude that was on the highway again in the whole movie???? Then why put him there if you're not showing him again? I might have this blog banned for the way I explicitly described the horror movie but oh well. Just avoid those two movies. Later :D

New game

I'm a real strategyfan. I've got aoe, ee, civ 4, battle for middle earth 2, you name it. Lately, I got World of Warcraft and I have played so much I felt I would never want another game again. But now my character is maxed out, so I'm looking for a good new game. Please if you know any good games tell me about it.(I would like to hear about MMORPG's RPG'S and RTS'S)

Thanks, Lordx67
