When you say Drive do you mean the amazing, under-appreciated show with Nathan Fillion or the movie with Ryan Gosling?

I personally love the concept of this show and think it would be a shame to see it go. I have often wondered what point a comments section on a website serves, other than providing fodder for the grammar Nazis of the world. What I liked about Feedbackula was you could point out and almost make fun a the most juvenile and asinine comments. I like to believe that you were trying to purposefully make fun of pointless, and often offensive, comments in order to redirect comments in general to something more productive. Perhaps, this could be the new direction of Feedbuckula; collecting well thought out opinions and broadcasting them so people don't have to dig around comments sections for them. Maybe that can promote actual discussion on this site.

Nostalgia is a powerful feeling. I am not sure of how many times I nearly bought a Gamecube in the last 3 or 4 years just because of memories I have of playing Super Smash Bros. Melee with my best friend on weekends.

The problem is I still haven't bought a Gamecube to relive memories because I know those memories are never coming back. Nor have a purchased a Wii to play Brawl and I don't plan on purchasing a Wii U to play whatever they call the next one. Call me cynical but I know Nintendo cannot possibly recreate the experience of being 11 and playing a game with your best friend. Nor can any other developer.

The problem is we have the habit not being able to dissociate between gameplay mechanics and actual experiences playing games. I might thing the easy to pick up, yet fast action of Super Smash Bros. Melee was what made it fun to play. But now I know playing with my best friend is what made it fun.

In short nostalgia is confusing and is probably more difficult to capitalize on than people think.

And quit picking on Tom. He is as entitled to his opinions as anybody else. And at the very least he is honest and doesn't change his opinions because they might not be popular. Tell that to all the CoD haters who still buy every single sequel.

@Korvus85 I agree. They get too much money and they think they can do no wrong. I have high hopes for this game, though, as it represents the renaissance of the space sim genre, which has laid dormant for far too long.

I don't really like crowd funding though. My father always told me never pay upfront in full.

It is the developer's market practices which are untenable. And making used games and Gamestop go down first will just sink them quicker. I don't know how old this Weerasuriya guy is but I saw him on the stage demo for his game at E3; he looked young but not young enough to know that this industry has crashed two or three time already. Those crashes had to with a deluge of content being produced, most of it substandard, which - surprise, surprise - no one would buy. Now the industry wants to make average content and sell it for more than it is worth which - once again surprise, surprise - not everybody wants to buy at full sticker price.

You know what the worst thing about Call of Duty is? It is not the recycled game mechanics or the multiplayer infested with pre-pubescent children. The worst thing about Call of Duty is no other game has the the market saturation it has achieved. No matter what you say about it, it sells well. BLOPS, MW3, and BLOPS 2 combined make almost 69 million as of November 2012, which by the way is the month BLOPS 2 came out. http://lazytechguys.com/news/business/call-of-numbers-black-ops-vs-black-ops-ii-vs-mw3-total-sales/

COD has created unrealistic sales goals and all the other developers think the way they can get gigantic market shares is by upping their budgets. Unfortunately they can't always deliver. And they can never deliver as good as COD. I've seen franchises ruined by attempting to broaden market appeal. See Ace Combat Horizon. A superb game essentially destroyed the studio that made it. See L.A. Noire and Team Bondi.

Enter Forza. The highest rated franchise on Gamestop. COD had some missteps with their first console releases. (BTW anybody who complains about the current COD being the worst has clearly never played Finest Hour, their first console release.) And Halo had that abysmal Halo: Wars which is the lowest ranked franchise entry. Forza was a niche game (until Horizon, that is) with a niche audience that was always satisfied.

Now I just hear developers whining. What is worse, they're whining that Gamestop can't sell their games. The best part about Gamestop is probably alot of people go there just to browse older, used games. There goes half of Gamestop's clientele. Also, when you think about it, used games almost subsidize new games. If a huge chunk of Gamestop's profits go away where do you think they are going to do to make that up? And you thought $60 was cost prohibitive to some consumers?

It was hard to get over the typo in the headline. "Prision????" Is that a regional spelling or something. I kinda figured Aussies would spell prison as "Australia."

This article sounds like it is criticizing what is described as a story about Joel for not being a story about Ellie. My suggestion to Carolyn is to make her own game about Ellie. Naughty Dog decided to make a story about Joel. Naughty Dog didn't create a game which singly solved the problem of sexism; possibly because that wasn't what they were trying to do when they made The Last of Us.

Please give it a new name. "The Division" just sounds so generic.
