I had a whole class on "Politics and Violence," and well, we explored those two areas, as well as human nature. From my experience in that class I'd say that violence is definitely part of human nature, perhaps not killing specifically though.

[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]

I had jury duty yesterday. All the 'mutants' of society emerge when called out for jury duty.

Prior to yesterday I thought it was a shame only 54% or so of Americans voted.

After yesterday I've concluded 54% may be too much. The Founding Fathers were right when they didn't want any average person voting. After seeing a cross-section of society yesterday I have to agree.

[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]I'm not in favor of it in my state but I also don't care if other states have it. I wouldn't vote to ban in nation-wide or anything. I would see that as excessive Federal government. KC_Hokie

Why aren't you in favor of it? If you don't want to ban it nation wide, why can't it be allowed in your state?

I believe in state's rights so what the people of one state want won't be the same else where.

I'm personally against gay marriage because I don't see any benefit to society. I don't believe in making laws just to make people feel nice.

WHAT A PRICK.
THAT'S LIKE SLAVERY SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MADE ILLEGAL JUST BECAUSE IT MADE PEOPLE "FEEL NICE."
I'M OUTTA HERE GUYS, HAVE FUN DEALING WITH THIS GUY.

[QUOTE="Logan1616"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]The 14th Amendment is the equal protection clause. If you define marriage a certain way then apply the law evenly that doesn't violate the Constitution. That included not allowing gay marriages if they don't fit the definition. KC_Hokie
Do you believe gays should be allowed to marry? Kind of interesting that you keep avoiding my question...

[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"][QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]

You made that mistake twice.

How do you even do that?

It's the Bill of Rights, you shouldn't be fudging that up. You should probably just take the safe route and elaborate on the use of the Elastic Clause (9th Amendment) for your arguments if you have trouble with this.

The 14th Amendment is the equal protection clause. If you define marriage a certain way then apply the law evenly that doesn't violate the Constitution. That included not allowing gay marriages if they don't fit the definition.

Before you go any further: what exactly do you mean by "don't fit the definition"?

That's probably his way of saying that he doesn't like gays...

4th Amendment = Unreasonable search and seizures/Probable Cause in terms of search warrants and expectations of privacy.

Surely you know this.
