I personally don't even care about GTA V, but it's not as if the ludicrous comments brought up in the episode are unique to the comments section of the GTA V review. These outrageously hateful, sexist, racist, etc. represent everything that is wrong with the gaming community, and why so many individuals in politics are so eager to pass legislation to further regulate the gaming industry. As gaming becomes more realistic in the situations games portray, a heightened degree of conscientiousness concerning issues such as gender and race is required by game developers and consumers alike. Gamers need to step away from their online avatars and act like actual human beings for the gaming industry to keep moving forward towards wide-spread social acceptance as an art medium.
