My Birthday & Events surrounding it!

Well, yesterday was the anniversary of my birth. Yep, I turned 18 years old! Nothing is too different, apart from the massive deal everyone seems to be making over it... But let me give you a quick idea of what's happened.

For the weekend, and as a Birthday present from my mum & her boyfriend, myself and 4 good friends were all sent to London to watch our boy Enzo Maccarinelli fight David Haye in a boxing match. It was to unify the world cruiserweight titles. Anyways, I went there wearing a massive Welsh flag as a cape, happy as Larry due to us beating the Irish in the rugby earlier in the day (we won the Triple Crown) and England lost to Scotland (ha!). So we sat in the crowd pretty much bullying the English all night with mighty chants. Anyway, the entrance of Haye was long and slow, which gave us more time to shout obscenities at him! The first round was dull, even though Enzo staggered Haye with a decent shot, but the second round rolled around in which Haye directed Macca into a corned and beat him down to the mat. He got up, spaghetti-legged he walked around for a bit, and the referee just called the fight. Personally I think even though he was unconscious as to what was happening, the ref should at least have utilised the standing 8 count. But that didn't happen. As soon as the fight was called, my friends and I were out of there...

Still, due to the crappy London transport we waited around for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS to get back to the hotel, during which time we shuffled onto a tiny bus which grown adults fought like school children to get on - I was literally punched in the face and bled, and bruised my hand fighting back lol. But we all got on what must have been the only and last bus out of there. But as I said it took 4 and a half hours to get back to the hotel, which was 45 minutes away. So we didn't get back until 6:30am, and then we overslept and missed our breakfast. Still, Cardiff City beat Middlesborough in the FA Cup later in the day so we're going to Wembley, so that's a consolation I suppose.

Then came Monday, my birthday. I awoke to open some cards filled with cash and the usual funny anecdotes, and then was off to school. I wont bore you with that, but will say that in the night I went out with some college-buddies to Riley's to play pool and have a few drinks. I won 3 games and lost 2 (it was doubles which didn't really help). I also got my first legal drink in (Kronenbourg 1664 from the tap - my fave.). Then tried out a few things afterwards - a few Bottles of VK Orange Vodka then Coco Cola Vodka shots. But I'm sure you would like me to get to the nitty gritty and tell you what prezzies I got right? Well, here goes...

Ø Boxing Gloves & A year's subscription to The Ring magazine. (From my boxing friends).

Ø A trip to London to see the Boxing :P (Mum & her boyfriend).

Ø A Hitachi DVD&HDD Video camera/Camcorder. (Dad & his girlfriend).

Ø A John Parrott Pool Cue. (Friend from College/Riley's night).

Ø Blade trilogy DVD Box set (Sister).

Ø A powerball (Dad).

Ø LOTS of cash.

As you can see I was quite spoiled, and thanks to everyone involved too. As I said before though, not much is different, apart from I am now eligible to buy my own drinks, therefore spend lots more money on them lol, and watching certificate 18 movies is a big plus - anyone who knows me will know I love my movies.

So, there's an insight into my 18th Birthday and the events surrounding it.

Thanks for reading this and any comments are greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Game Progress:

Nothing but FIFA08 this month so not much I can say really.

Ø Up to about 76% now Completed on FIFA08 - in fairness, I don't know anyone who has completed more than that than me. If you do... pray tell...

Ø I HAD to add this. I have been playing a guy from Gamespot on FIFA 08 online, and it's been hilarious. His name is HazRules and the games we have are awesome. Why? Because I cannot bloody win! I have now hit a losing streak of -7. It's brilliant how unlucky I am on this, I even had a shot that hit the crossbar then kinda went along the line and then I somehow missed by backpassing it! It's just argghhh no words to describe my getting pwned. I then proceeded to go on an 11-match win streak against him, which was cool. And now I'm back to a regular system of win a few & then lose a few... We have a laugh though which is all that matters, and neither of us ever disconnect which is a nice bonus :D

Favourite Word

This month's word is...

Opportunity.

I chose this largely for the reason of my trip to Llangrannog, which you will find out more from below. Opportunity is that little thing that comes around rarely for myself, but often for others. In my opinion, the one thing that differentiates everyone is knowing when to make the most of those opportunities before they slip through our fingers. Now, I'm a young man... almost 18 and can't really say that I'm experienced enough to be preaching words of wisdom but what I've learnt from life is that the decision you make when the opportunity is present... It can change EVERYTHING. It could be working hard for a few tests to further your career, it could be just helping out at a local homeless shelter, or even as simple as the right timing for those 3 words 'I love you'. Either way, I urge you to make the most of each opportunity, be opportunistic. Never look back with regrets on life... I've not had the longest life but can easily say I have way too many regrets than I care to remember.

Best Moment of the Month:

Wales beating England at Twickenham for the first time in 20 years? Priceless. But if I'm honest here... Nothing could possibly beat my experience at Llangrannog. Opportunity came knocking for my last chance to go... So I took it.

This was my 4th visit to Llangrannog and my 3rd as a 'swog'. I spent 5 days terrorising - I mean looking after a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds as they had the time of their lives doing all kind of cool stuff. I enjoyed playing football with them, going tobogganing, walks to the beach etc and even little things like helping them to put a helmet on safely. But what I really enjoyed of the whole trip, you might need to read between the lines for, if the trip were to be analysed in terms of my 'best moment'. It would be the bond between myself, my best friend and the other people there... Mikey. We are kind of the same in every way (personality-based). Everything we do is hilarious. We joke around, we think the same things, and we kind of have the same background, same tastes in music, food, games, people, and humour... We understand each other, sort of know what each other is thinking... We had some really intense and deep conversations but even when we each fell into a downward spiral of depression and upset, the other seemingly managed to bring the other back out of it, even with a simple joke. We have an awesome friendship, and just spending 5 days with my mate, knowing our college days are ending soon and we both are in a position where we are incredibly pressured etc just that time had me happy, and to spend time with these 5 girls that go to our school, and get treated like a normal human being for once in my life, I was happy.

Thoughts & Events

1. Cloverfield. Was tough for me to decide what I thought of it. I went with about 10 friends (crewage! ). Anyways we all had mixed opinions, i was stuck sitting next to the inexperienced cinemagoer who sat and talked & fidgeted all through the movie. I'm not sure whether to call this film absolutely brilliant or just mediocre. I can't decide. The plot did not reveal itself for a start - I mean, there did those alien/dinosaur things come from etc? The camera withstood being semi-chewed up by the thing near the end and dropped to the floor, rocks on top of it, battery life of at least 8 hours, night vision, flashlight. Highly unrealistic, but I want one Then again, the characters were believable and the acting was great, camera angles, special effects were all good. So again, I'm really unsure. Upon reflection (I started to type this part after watching the film and this is a final thought on the topic) - I really did enjoy it and will be glad to watch it again. Rated 4/5.

2. A member of my family has been taken to Hospital and I don't want to go into too much detail here, but will just say that I spent quite a few days at a Hospital so although it may seem like I didn't do stuff like play games here, for me it is precious time that I needed and used wisely. Hopefully the future can prove this for me.

3. Our Hamster Snuggles died on 16th February 2008. A previous blog was specifically made so if you want to know more then go to that instead.

4. Went to Ninian Park to see Cardiff City beat Wolves 2-0 in the FA Cup. That win takes us to the 6th round (quarter finals) a feat we haven't reached since we last won the cup I believe in the 1920's. I really enjoyed the match and I'm hoping for a win vs. Boro in the next round.

Possible Purchases/Things I considered & Nearly Bought:

Well I looked into a list of games that are coming out this year and I intend to at least Pre-Order them all when available:

Ø Rock Band

Ø Afrika

Ø Grand Theft Auto IV

Ø Metal Gear Solid 4

Ø EyeToy: Eyedentify

Ø LittleBigPlanet

Ø Home

Ø Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy

Ø Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Ø Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (NEW)

Ø The Bourne Trilogy

Ø All the Kevin Smith movies.

That's All Folks!

Thank you all for taking time to read my Monthly Blog, I hope you enjoyed reading about the uneventful events in my life :P

If you've noticed any major mistakes I make, I am now asking you do comment on them so I can improve it in future etc. Thanks!

Comments are, as usual, appreciated and shall be reciprocated (returned), so until next month... That's All Folk's!

Rydw i'n hapus yn fawr iawn! I am very happy!

Le-Beave here again and breaking in some Welsh for you all to learn. Why? Well let me tell you:

Monday starts my escape. Things have been pretty sucky lately, but over the next few days i'm hoping that will all turn around. One word: Llangrannog. Last Novermber(ish) i blogged about some recent going-ons in my life and in the list was Llangrannog. I missed it so much but before i get into that, i'll refresh your memeory for those who don't actually know what it is. Gwersyll Llangrannog is a camp for kids where they spend a few days in a dorm with friends, and do activities like Skiing, Tabogganing, Go karts, Quad Bikes, Assault Courses, Football (soccer), a trip to the Beach, Horse Riding and all kinds of other stuff. Well, that's that got to do with me? I am a 'swog' an abbreviated term for Swyddog i beleive it means 'Officer'. I supervise them on the activities, teach some Welsh and of course join in the fun :P Me and Mike (awesome friend) go together as we have what will be the third time in 2 years now :) We then enjoy the activities, 4 meals, a quick shower and some late night talks with some of the other pretty cool gals from our Sixth Form :) So, why am i excited.. I REALLY missed it last time I left and came home, so as this will be my last time, i'm going to pull out all the stops and make this the best one ever!

I'll let you know how it turns out.

In GAMING News:

I have just been playing FIFA lately and one day i brought out the old Fight Night Round 3 but anyway, back to FIFA 08. I'm completely hooked Online. I luckily just hit a 9 game win streak (again) which i am yet to break and I just went up to Skill Level 6 & am now ranked 26,000th in the world :D Unfortunately, one obstacle to overcome was some idiot hacker. He hacked it so that i couldn't see the team logos, score, player stamina bar, shot power bar, TIME, or anything. Even at half time the pause menu for me was non-existant. I was unlucky enough to have him score in Stoppage Time to make it 3-3 and i then held off a barrage of attacks to take it to penalties which left my face beaming of glee. Not to brag, but i'm pretty freakin good at penalties saving a fair few per game. I saved 2 of him penalties & scored all of mine granting me the win. It wasn't plain sailing as he was of course someone who just does not respect the gaming world. Oh and he also played as Chelsea. That was very kind of him... When i went to see the stats afterwards the player disappeared from my Recent Games without a trace which was also bizarre. Anyway, he was just another stepping stone for me on my rise to greatness :P Sorry, got a tad carried away there hehe ;) Just kidding.

If I can find his name i will edit this post and tell you so we can all avoid him. Again, i need to let you guys know how Llangrannog turns out too. So i will be away next week then.

It's likely my next Blog will be my monthly one so check back and i'll let you know how things went.

Thanks for reading, comments are appreciated but replies may be late if i'm away all week lol.

Thanks for reading!

Snuggles R.I.P.

Snuggles

Dec 05 - Feb 08

Snuggles was our Hamster. He died this morning.

He was cute, fun, energetic, always interested in what was going on, peaceful (would never bite a soul),and always hungry.

I knew he was on his last legs the past few weeks as he had started to get lazy and instead of going to the toilet in his potty he would just pee wherever he wanted. He would eat more and more and exercise less and less.

Still, he was part of our family and our 3rd Hamster that has passed on.

I don't want this blog to sound like i am some sort of nutjob, but you cant help but get emotionally attatched to something that shares the same house as you for two and a quarter years.... Some people have dogs, some have cats, we had Hmasters, Goldfish and a Budgie. The Goldfish died, the Hamsters died, the Budgie lives on.... But those past away will always be remembered thanks to the ingenius invention of Photography.

All the more reason to get a video camera as mentioned in my previous Blog.

Time to move on and carry on struggling with the next few hard months of A Levels, Careers, Cars, Dying Family and Crumbling friendships... I guess life's a b*tch huh?

To video or not to video? THAT is the question!

Indeed. I am in a blogging mood but seem as it's quarter to midnight and i'm bored, overtired and restless I thought a blog would be a good idea. I have a lot on my mind but thought i'd focus on something less emotional. Video.

So, i've been thinking getting a video camera would be a cool gadget for myself to buy as i'm nearing the end of my schooldays (college anyway) and i will probably be spending some quality time with friends before i never see them again. I thought getting some nice videos and then editing them for some cool music would be a nice way for me to remember these days so therefore i'm thinking about buying a Video Camera. Also, it goes without saying it may be a nifty thing for videoblogging ;)

So your thoughts? Should I get one or not?

If so, are there any mandatory requirements you feel it should have? Any informative help you can give right now would be cool.

Thanks!

Getting Owned Much?

amuchtoomuch!

Indeed, playing FIFA08 Online I am on a losing streak of 7 games now.... I won my first 4 Online and have just kept losing ever since... I seem to usually go one goal up and then get lazy and then the defending is shocking.

I'm just wondering how long this will go on for....

So, anyone else ever have a bad losing streak or anything online?

EDIT: In a bizarre turn of events, i recently hit a 10 game win streak and saw myself raise the Online Skill Levels by 2 ranks :)

The Royal Pwnage Test

If you read my last blog, you will have already known i took an interest in a career in the Royal Navy. Anyway, im not sure how much info i can give here but basically I wanted to tell you it's not what you may expect. For those who think the armed forces such as the Navy and more probably the Army was just for school dropouts, think again. The tests to get in will be tough for me or anyone really. Like i said, im unsure how much detail i am legally allowed to put here so i may just leave it at that. But it would mean a lot of long distance running in a short time, lots of press ups, sit ups and swimming certain distances in certain times. Then there is of course loads of questions testing my numeracy skills etc. Well, i was thinking of making a self documentry on my training for this, my weight loss, stamina increases muscle mass etc. And of course mood swings and change of foods in a diet :P Then of course the crunch time of if i can do this much training in a certain amount of months and then be allowed in. Well, your thoughts on all this are more than appreciated. So thanks for reading ;)

My Monthly Blog : January!

Introduction

I hope you enjoy this Monthly Blog, so without further ado, my January....

Alike last time I am sorry but you will have to deal with Bullet Point form instead of a nicely laid out set of pictures for some reason my HTML or whatever isn't working and the pictures don't show very well if at all, I have a feeling things will be like this for the next few months until I have lots of time to get a game plan for this thing.

Favourite Picture:

Favourite Quote:

Matthew: Moral fiber. So, what is moral fiber? It's funny, I used to think it was always telling the truth, doing good deeds, basically being a f*****g boy scout. But lately I've been seeing it differently. Now I think moral fiber's about finding that one thing you really care about. That one special thing that means more to you than anything else in the world. And when you find her, you fight for her. You risk it all, you put her in front of everything, your life, all of it. And maybe the stuff you do to help her isn't so clean. You know what? It doesn't matter. Because in your heart you know, that the juice is worth the squeeze. That's what moral fiber's all about.

FROM 'THE GIRL NEXT DOOR'.

Favourite Word

This is a new addition to my Monthly Blog in which each month will feature my favourite word for the month, this may feature as a weekly segment to my blog too so keep your eyes open. The word may be English, Welsh, Internet slang etc. So this month's word is....

Ambition.

I chose this largely for the reason you will see in point 5 of my 'Thoughts'. Without ambition we may just be another drone on a planet, but with ambition, we may drive each other to be better people, to be better than we can seemingly be on a day to day basis. The best way to put this simply is 'Be Someone'.

Best Moment of the Month:

The relief of knowing my Exams were finally over. I celebrated by purchasing Scrubs series 4 and Superbad: Extended Edition with Exclusive McLovin Personalised ID card! Relaxing after a time like that is always good.

At a close second place I felt really happy when I did a few things on FIFA 08 too. I managed to finish ALL of the remaining Tournaments and unlocked a sticker & 45,000 points for the Fan Shop and then proceeded to complete Challenge Mode Region 3 without ANY fails and got some really cool unlockables for that too. I know, I previously blogged that I was no longer doing that part of the game as it was literally killing me by high blood pressure etc but I did it calmly and controlled myself and it all went fine - just don't tell anyone I played challenge mode though!

Thoughts & Other Stuff

1. Well this January I had my resit exams. Resists for some of my AS exams I did last June and wasn't happy with a few of the results in one or two areas. I am usually not good at revision but in all honesty, I worked hard at it for the first time in my almost 18 year life. And I'm hoping that's reflected in the results, which I get in approximately a month and a half to 2 months, which should be a good birthday present J .

2. This is the big one here. I'll be turning 18 on the 10th March and have been unsure for some time as to how to celebrate. Lots of my friends are having huge parties at big venues, some have house parties, and some go out for meals. But I wanted something different, probably because it would be too difficult to have to choose my friends to party with, cos some will always feel left out. Anyway, my Mum had a pretty effin good idea. I just so happened to be speaking with my Boxing mates about this fight on 8th March (between Enzo Maccarinelli and David Haye) which just so happens to be on my Mum's birthday :P But anyway, she said as something special for my Birthday, she'd send myself and my 4 Boxing mates to London to go watch the fight and stay over there for a night and enjoy London! How cool is that!?

3. Rock Band. I am growing more & more impatient here now as the Euro release is apparently in Q1 of 2008 but no specifics have really been released. I heard that it may be 6th March, which again would be a great time as I'm sure it would be a nice present from me to me! Haha.

4. Got hit our car hit by another on Saturday 19th. I had to go hospital just to be checked, nothing broken obviously but I have tissue damage to my neck & back. The guy admitted he was looking at his SatNav like a bloody idiot, those things cause more trouble than actually helping people. But I suppose it's all good though as our car is scratch less and his is now all deformed. **** you SatNav inventors!

5. The MAGIC number five. I thought I'd put this as my final thought for the month, career. I've thought long and hard over the past few years of ideas for a career. After all, ill soon be turning 18, finishing my A Level exams and be thrown out into the world with pretty much nothing. So a considerable amount of thought was needed when thinking about what could literally be my entire world for the next 40something years. Over time I've juggled with the ideas of Barrister, Teacher, Musician, Boxer (wtf? :P), Game reviewer, Movie Reviewer, Scriptwriter & Film Director, Band Manager, Security guard and now I think I've settled on one. The Royal Navy. Looking into it I'm going to have a few tests on numeracy, literacy, physical examination etc but after that it all seems like plain sailing (pardon the pun). That's not to say it will be easy as that's not what im going for, I want to be challenged, excited, and disciplined. Kinda like what I look for in my games. The areas I've researched sound ideal to me and the £££ was irrelevant in my decision although looking futher into that it sounds beautiful... good wages, no rent to pay nor food, and a Full pension at the age of when I would be 38, who can complain? Like I said, im seeking a challenge, but an enjoyable one. I have a good sense of Nationalism in me too, I'm proud of my country and I think this sounds like a good thing not only for me, but for everyone J What do you think? Comments on this are extremely appreciated. Cheers :D

6. I went down to Ninian Park to watch Cardiff City play QPR in the Coca Cola Championship (Soccer League). It was cool as i hadn't been to a match in nearly two months. We won 3-1 with two goals by my fave City player Joe Ledley (a Welsh International) and then one in the second half for us by Paul Parry. Was good fun and now my old man is convinced to go watch some more with me and is buying tickets to the 5th Round of the FA Cup vs Wolves. So that should be a cool thing if i add that to my next Monthly Blog.

Speaking of which, it should be quite an eventful one, although i'm not too sure about the purchases as of yet, but look forward to some good stuff!

Another thought would obviously be my last Blog post - "People Only seem to care when it's too late" so check that out if you feel like it too.

People only care when it's too late.

One of the many thoughts that came through my mind today as i was suffering pretty bad from my depression. (I don't mean like a one-off kinda thing... I got the actual clinical illness. But enough about me. I had that thought and images of things that History has shown us like all this global warming, Hitler & the genocide/final solution etc. And thought to myself... "People only really ever seem to care when it's too late". Just an important thought i'd blog to you and i'm interested in your opinions too....

My First Official Monthly Blog: December!

Introduction

First I'd like to start by saying thank you to everyone who commented on my last Blog, 'Best of 2007' and it totalled 48 comments which I've never hit before, if I'm correct, I think my previous best was about 23! So thanks for taking your time to read some of my work and opinions. I hope you enjoy my belated Monthly Blog, so without further ado, my December....

FYI: I am furious that I pre-made this on MS Word and layed it out etc, resized images, placed images perfectly, moved my wording etc. And as soon as I went to Paste it here, all of the images disappear. So there's no way I'm looking for them all over again, you're just going to have to deal with Bullet Points :P If you wan't a picture so badly, I suggest Googling, I got a fair few from there.

Enjoy.

Best Moment of the Month:

Being reminded of the quote from 5_LD_5's profile and letting it bring a smile to my face. It made me really warm inside. And that's something special, bear in mind we just had Christmas too lol, so it really was something, I'm having a bit of a rough time lately but won't go into that, so the warmth it brought me makes it my favourite moment of December.

Thoughts

1. Well this January I have exams. Resists for some of my AS exams I did last June and wasn't happy with a few of the results in one or two areas. So I got all these DVDs and 2 new games but didn't see the time to play or watch them if I was to focus on the Exams. Unfortunately of all those DVD's I watched all but two or three and the games you can see from section 2. I am pretty poor at revision anyway, and as these may be some of the most important exams of my life in the next few months... Focus is a must-have. Just a thought, got a comment?

2. Thanks to everyone who made my Best of 2007 blog such a success. I don't think I've ever had a blog hit just under 50 comments before so that was really nice to see, quite inspirational for me to keep blogging ;) :P

Possible Purchases/Things I considered & Nearly Bought:

Ø Nearly bought: X Box 360 Bundle: 360, Controller, Headset, Silver Live Subscription, FIFA 08, Harry Potter, Halo 3, Assassins Creed. ONLY £290! For all that. I found the same deal with NO GAMES and only a month LIVE for £280! Lol.

Ø Want: A new shirt (one for parties & birthdays & stuff) from River Island.

That's All Folks!
