As soon as I logged on yesterday I was able to create my character, and the first world I chose was not open so I just picked another one and get right in. I barely had problems. Aside from the fact that SONY did not update PSN so that I could enter the registration code to play until 5 pm.

My only beef is the amount of AFK players I saw in the world. They need to boot people who are AFK for like 20 mins or something in order to let actual players in.

im buying it. i dont care. if its bad i will just return it.besides i am not spending real money, just my credit at gamestop, although i could use that credit for something else. but whatever i am a huge FF fan and I plan to play every single one. 14 and 12 are the two i havent gotten to yet. game looks playable, and i have tried WOW and got bored in 5 minutes, although its probably slow at the beginning of any mmorpg, because you dont know what you are doing yet. oh well, ill post back and let you know how it is

Awesome man, you make me want to go buy it tomorrow. Well not buy, but just use my credit. Once I get it all set up and figure out the mechanics we can play together or something. Is there anything that I can do tonight to make tomorrow more smooth? Can I set up my account for payment or create a character or anything, or do I have to wait to get the game for some access code or something?

Oh and will this game play well on PS3? I heard bad things about Skyrim on PS3 compared to PC. Is this the same situation?

Hey everyone. I am an avid FF fan. I played FFXI years ago and was borderline addicted to it. Never tried the first edition of FF14 and by the looks of the reviews, its a good thing I didnt.

Anyways, I plan to go to gamestop at 11am tomorrow and play this game the entire day. Does that sound like a good idea?

The reason I ask are due to three concerns.

1. I am worried that I will have to dedicate my life to this game. There will be times when I wont be able to get on for a couple of days. Some days I will only play for a couple hours. Then some, I could play for 12 hours. Is this a game that I can play casually as well as hardcore?

2. Will Square's servers be able to handle all of us Americans on the lack of servers that they have provided us? Should I wait a few days before buying to see how things go?

3. Most importantly, to the beta players, IS IT FUN? Is it similar to FFXI? I loved that game. Will it have different and entertaining things to do, or will it be really repetitive like 13-2 is starting to feel. Will it have the charm of most Final Fantasy games, or is this another Square Enix disaster. Keep in mind I loved FF13, but 13-2 not so much. Never played 12. Loved FFX but that was Square, X-2 looked so lame that I never even tried it, which was Enix. FF15 looks great though, so I can't really judge.

I love whoever replies to help me. I have a $70 credit at gamestop and I plan on utilizing it on a great game because I am broke, so its either this or GTA V. Then I will get FFX remake later this year and the new games in 2014.

Sorry, guess I should suggest some games as well. Any Final Fantasy, preferably FF7, 8, and 10. 13 was good but takes about 12 hours to get into. 13-2 is ok, kinda confusing, they tried to be too not linear, but still fun with trapping monsters etc. I have never played Skyrim but I hear its one of the greats. People swear by Mass Effect but it is not my thing. I don't like Western RPGs. Go on ebay and grab Xenoblade because if I had the money, I would buy it in a heartbeat. That game looks awesome. I played Tales of Vesperia for about 20 hours and it was cool but got repetitive after a while, some people swear by it though. It depends on you. Some people hate final fantasy and I love all of their games, and have played ff7 at least 30 times through and it is a 40-60 hour game. I never get sick of it.

Can I ask you a personal question? How were you able to achieve this? It is amazing that you will not have to work for an entire year as well as have a budget to buy $400 of games a month on top of other random bills. I am not looking down on you by any means, I want to know how so that I can too! lol

Ok just kidding I am going to stick to being an IT professional and just having fun playing video games in my free time. LOL. And I am not being sarcastic. At some point in the past I remember learning just how much work and tedious repetitive actions are undertaken when developing games. Screw that, that would just destroy my love for them. Thanks for reminding me.

Hey guys. Well, I finally have realized that video games are my passion. I am not addicted. I go to work 40 hours a week, go to the gym, do martial arts, spend time with my daughter. However, I am currently working construction right now until I get an IT certification that will grant me an entry level job at a help desk or something. I enjoy computers and technology, but I can't spend 12 hours messing with computers like I can with video games. Perhaps I could if it was programming, which would be cool because video game creation needs programmers.

I think creating a game would be awesome, but I really enjoy just playing other peoples. I wish I could get paid to do that! But yeah, to my question.

Just wondering what jobs anyone knows of within the video game production realm. If your passion is video games, what jobs would satisfy your tastes, what job would be my dream job? I have googled this and found some answers, just looking for some other insight.

haha I made a post similar to this a couple weeks ago, except mine was about final fantasy 7. I think it has to do with the fact that FF7 was my first RPG, perhaps xenogears was yours. For some reason FF7 is a part of me. Anyways, look at my thread, its probably a few posts down the list, or even the top of the 2nd page on this board. Its called "Cant find an RPG of this gen worth playing" or something like that. You will see everyones answers.

My best advice is to google good rpgs, check them out on youtube, and see what may suit you.

I did this for hours and eventually set on Tales of Vesperia for xbox 360, although I dont think that was on your list of consoles, but there is Tales of Graces for Ps3. People suggested Persona 3 and 4, but I have never played them.

You know, if there was one RPG I could play right now, it would be Xenoblade on the WII, but I dont have one and you have to go on ebay and spend about $100 to get the game, because it is out of print. I would say it is worth it though. I'll spend a lot of money on a very long, spectacular game.

I have also heard great things about Valkirya Chronicles.

Unfortunately, it seems that the classic RPG has died and evolved into something that doesn't have that same charm. I am currently playing FF7 here and there, FF8 sometimes, trying to get perfect games (getting every item).

I play Tales of Vesperia but stopped because it got a little repetitve, but it is a really great game. Ni No Kuni is supposed to be an awesome game, but it is a little kiddy feeling. I played a demo of it though and enjoyed it thoroughly.

If you are thinking about a Tales of game, wait a few days for Tales of Xillia, the newest addition to the series. GTA V is coming in a month or so.

Aside from all the old RPG's, I have been trying to force my way through FF13 and 13-2 to see just how bad they are, and so far 13 is mediocre, but not terrible, can't recommend it unless you are a diehard FF fan.

Hmmm, other than that, The last of us is a good survival horror game for PS3. ME and my cousin play multiplayer on it, its pretty fun, a nice strategy 3rd person shooter game.

That's all I've got. Oh, FF14 is coming this month, which is a MMORPG, like World of Warcraft. Skyrim is apparently really good too, but that is also a MMORPG.

Aside from all that, you will have to wait for PS4/Xbox One for hopefully a comeback of great RPGs. Xenoblade 2, Final Fantasy 15, etc

Good luck. Just remember, you probably didn't LOVE Xenogears at first, it probably grew on you, then ultimately became the greatest game you ever played. FF7 was ok to me at first, and as I went deeper into the game and finally finished it, I realized just how much I loved it. There is an awesome game that will suck you in, sometimes you just need to be patient and give them a chance. This game will be different from Xenogears though, and that is fine because you don't want to play the exact same thing you just played.
