@spectral Oh that's just ridiculous. There's "dreamlike," and there's "dumb." Those effects don't make me feel like I'm in a dream--they take me out of the game.
@spectral Stuff like this can be very distracting. Excessive flare is one thing, but the bizarre effects the lighting can create are sometimes off the charts.
@delcidanddarth You have to be kidding, right? Is that why I gave the only 10 I ever gave yet to... Metal Gear Solid 4? Why I gave 9s to Killzone 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, Command & Conquer 3, Vanquish, Far Cry 3, and so on, and so forth?
Also, perhaps you haven't noticed the shooters I have reviewed? Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Killzone; Shadow Fall, Aliens vs. Predator, Lost Planet (PC), Lost Planet 2, Lost Planet 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Shadow Warrior, ARMA III, The Bureau, DUST 514, Metro: Last Light (my favorite game of 2013), Metro Redux, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Crysis: Warhead, Crysis for consoles, BioShock: Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den, PlanetSide 2, Vanquish, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Syndicate, The Darkness II, Hard Reset, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, Duke Nukem Forever, Bulletstorm, Bad Company 2: Vietnam, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, Rogue Warrior, Dreamkiller, F.E.A.R. 2, Necrovision, Legendary, Haze, Turok, Clive Barker's Jericho, and others of course, and that doesn't include the shooters I played but didn't review, which are many.
Destiny isn't great. I wrote a bunch of words to explain why, just as I wrote a bunch of words here to explain why I think Lords of the Fallen is. They speak for themselves, I think.
In short, I have no idea what you are on about, but claiming a pro-fantasy bias, or that I don't play, like, or review shooters is just not grounded in any reality.
@zax360 I went back and forth on it. In the end, I knew that a lot of Souls players were interested, so I used the comparison as a point of reference, but I tried not using it as a crutch. Hopefully I struck the right balance.
