@UltimateBastard @trugs26

Bayonetta is on my top 10, but not in my top 5. I might write a blog post that encompasses my entire list, actually!

@anne_1230 No. We choose games we think deserve the praise, though not without plenty of debate and arguments. (We are not a hive mind, after all.)

@Cloud_imperium Our video team, as well as our teams in the AU and UK, also made their voices heard. These lists are written by only a cross-section of the various people who contribute to our GOTY discussions, most of whom do not write a personal list.

@homelessgamer Because I sadly have limited time. I do want to get to it though.

@spartanx169x @jbraden6075 You are making things up. Please do not speak for me or for my tastes, because not a single thing you are saying represents my feelings on any of these matters.

@jbraden6075 You must not be familiar with my body of work then? My top pick in 2010 was Vanquish (above Mass Effect 2 by the way); in 2012, it was Journey. 2013 was Metro: Last Light. In 2009, it was Demon's Souls (and in 2011, Dark Souls), though they aren't exactly story-rich. In 2008, it was Metal Gear Solid 4. Story-rich, I guess, but no RPG. In 2007, it was Assassin's Creed. 2006, my top pick was, surprisingly, Viva Pinata, and 2005 was a toss-up for me between Guild Wars and Black & White 2. (I played more PC games that year, which is why Shadow of the Colossus and RE4 didn't make my original top picks.) 2004 was Half-Life 2. The majority of my favorite games from the last decade aren't actually RPGs at all. I also notice that you don't notice the high marks I gave to all sorts of shooters over the years, including one of my favorites, the underappreciated Killzone 2.

I suppose this list is RPG-heavy. So yeah. Whatevs, I guess. What shooter do you think I should have included here? I don't think this was a standout shooter year, honestly. Wolfenstein is pretty great, but do you think I should have put, like, Destiny on this list? :|

@CommandoAgent What on earth are you talking about? To start with, we have never given a game prominently featuring zombies a 10. Ever.

Let's put this claim into perspective. I went through the entire list of reviews over the last year. Here are the games with prominent Zombie or Zombie-like things as their main themes that I can think of, and their scores.

Escape Dead Island: 5

Sunset Overdrive (they're sort of zombies, I guess): 8

Neverending Nightmares (sort of, maybe): 7

The Evil Within (kind of): 7

Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition: 3

Walking Dead Season 2, Ep. 5: 7

The Last of Us Remastered (basically zombies kind of): 8

Walking Dead Season 2, Ep. 4: 9

Nether: 5

Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha: 7

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z: 4

Walking Dead Season 2, Ep. 3: 8

Walking Dead Season 2, Ep. 2: 8

Resident Evil 4 HD: 8

The Last of Us: Left Behind: 9

"Zombies" is a tricky word, because a lot of things are zombielike but not necessarily zombies, and games with zombies in them aren't necessarily zombie games. (I wouldn't say The Last of Us or Walking Dead are zombie games, for instance, even though they have zombie or zombielike things in them.) Regardless, your comment isn't backed by reality.
