The thing I really dont understand is how a game like Tomb Raider, Which is good but is not even TRYING to do anything new is scored so far above average, and a game like Luigi's Mansion, which successfully blends the atmosphere of a long dead genre, with new conventions, AND an incredibly solid multiplayer to boot, is scored as mediocre. It seems as though critics aren't looking at games from the right perspective sometimes. To promote creativity in this medium, you have to praise creativity in the medium. Not reward tired mechanics and stale concepts just because they are cleanly executed.
Usually I really enjoy Carolyn's reviews, but docking the game so harshly based on her difficulty in completing what seems to be ONE section of the game is a very amateur habit in critical writing.
