Classic case of looking at something from only one angle, sure Joel is a male, white angry dude. But what about how the world effects and changes Ellie? Hell we experience an entire arc of how Ellie can take care of herself without Joel (Sans the interference of crazy people, where Joel is actually the one to get Ellie into a jam this time)
But it's easy to only look at the one sided story we always get about sexism and gaming, your looking too hard for something that isn't there.
Until at least one more of the big 3 split off being first to try and make big changes isn't always the best for the first guy to jump out.
The majority of the gamers who look for news look to E3 for it, sure it's easier to attain the information when it's spread out but some people like one event to condense all the information they want of the products they are purchasing. The hardcore fans will get the news however they can wether it's at E3 or not. But Mema and Popop aren't really looking anywhere else but to the big "Bloated" shows for the news.
It's a shame that valid criticism over the game and it's development is mixed in with vitrol such a homophobic rage. My only deal with the Gay characters is some of them look pretty shoehorned in themselves as like Kevin said Earlier about Jessica Chobits character. A well played marketing ploy. Sure Bioware will crane on how they are dissapointed about how people reacted, but it's exactly what they wanted in terms of marketing even angry people can strum up great noise for the game and that noise in turn will drum up sales. Bioware Obviously took a key from Activision first big PR scandle in Modern Warfair with No-Russian, being taken to task by the global media can be great free marketing. Want a game with a good Gay character Persona 4 (While not overt) has a great interpretation of a man strugling with his own sexuality.
