If you're using a URL that contains /self/, that will always show your info. If you're getting a /self/ link on another user's profile, then that's not right.

Ok , here's the URL I got after clicking on my friend's about me page : [ http://www.gamespot.com/users/Uesugi-dono/about_me ]

Still gave me the same screen . Also , I tried clicking on Drac's link above and it gave me the same broken page again after it had worked the first time .

Whether I'm trying to view the About Me page of some new user who started tracking me or if I'm just trying to view my OWN About Me page ... the page is broken .. as in , most of the page loads normally but their username , avatar , whole about me section and other parts don't load ..

So here's a question .. are Bollywood movies not real movies ? And if Hollywood decided to make a movie with a lot of dancing and singing but using Hollywood stars , would you call it a Bollywood movie ?

I think you are confusing Role Playing Games as in D&D pen and paper stuff with Role Playing Videogames which is what RPG here stands for .. Sure the real world games inspired the western video games but the japanese ones weren't and should not be related to them in anyway when naming them .. JRPG is a very real and legit genre of VIDEO-gaming acknowledged by pretty much everyone (not necessarily liked but acknowledged nonetheless) .. Just cause they aren't related to the extremely dull real world game (hey , you hate jrpgs , I don't like D&D) doesn't mean they shouldn't be called RPGs .. it means we should just separate them from the RPGs influenced by D&D .. now how would we do that ? hmmm .. oh wait .. how about JRPGs and WRPGs ? :o .. Where did I hear that before though :roll: ?

The reason why Demon's Souls should definitely be categorized as a JRPG is because people will often disagree on what the sty|e of the game is , what with the blending of sty|es and influences from different genres .. so JRPG should simply refer to country of origin/maker ..

[QUOTE="wiouds"]

[QUOTE="smerlus"] no basically i'm using common sense. If there's are two baseball videogames, the one that mimics real life baseball best is the better of the two. There are two videogame RPGs, the ones that mimic real life RPGs is the better of the two. real simple and nothing to do with my personal opinion.smerlus

That is poor logic there. What makes a "real life RPGs"?

Freedom of choice, and exploration within the comfines of a rule set.

and it's flawless logic. EVERYTIME avideogame based on real life has been made ithas been rated on how close it comes to capturing the real thing. I don't think a fan of Flight Sims would appreciate it if the B2 he/she was flying was able to crash underwater and navigate underseas just as well as it does in air, I don't think fans of Forza or Gran Turismo would like their cars to control like Saint's Row 2 and have missles on them.

So according to your logic there shouldn't be such a genre as Arcade Racer ? We should call them either fake racers .. or call them a sub-genre of REAL racing but never a genre ?

I know people bash JRPGs a lot but to not even acknowledge them as real RPGs is completely new to me !

I actually don't think DS has the traditional WRPG tropes .

pills4louis

It doesn't have the traditional JRPG tropes, either, so what's your point?

My point is that tropes or elements of the game then don't have anything to do with them being JRPGs or WRPGs .. it's only country of origin or the people who made it .. otherwise games like Demon's Souls would be un-categorizable :)
