I've played every test punch so far, and most other people seem to be getting better while I'm just staying the same. Some people CREAM me and I don't even know why.

I know the general strategies.... block punches, punch away grabs, dodge both when you can, swat them away with a punch if necessary, etc.

But in practice, punches seem to come way too fast to do anything intentional unless the opponent is far enough away. But if I keep my distance, it makes it way too easy for them to dodge my own punches.

So I end up constantly dodging and jumping and punching, not completely randomly, but definitely too frantically to say I'm actually using strategy.

So, give me some tips. How do I manage to stay ahead of my opponent and actually be intentional rather than throwing stuff out whenever I feel like it?

@Ovirew: It's especially bad in the jungly area of Faron. When there's long grass and god rays coming through the trees during the day, it can really bog down for a second or two when the camera turns.

I haven't been able to test that specific area since I sent my joycon in for repairs before the update came out. If they can fix framerate issues just with a patch, it makes me think they were really down to the wire to get the game out by Switch launch (and end of their fiscal year). Nintendo usually hammers out the optimization stuff for release.

Just in time for me to have already finished it. ><

I may go back to it after I get my left joycon back from being repaired, though. Apparently some people are playing it without ever looking at the map, which sounds like a terrible experience for a first playthrough, but I could see it being really awesome for a second one.

My thought is that I'll go for the four main dungeons, getting whatever shrines and such I come across on the way, then head to Ganon (and if I have the means, pick up that special somethinsomethin that'll help with the final battle).

The result was finishing the game on a much lower note than I would have otherwise.

@zassimick: omg, that was you, THANK YOU! It had been a constant personal irritant for .. years? on this board. There were like ten stickies before, most of them out of date or unused. I saw that it was cleaned up and was so happy. :)

Skyward Sword used the gyro for pointing. It's why I hope they fix up that game for a switch remaster.... With all its problems fixed, it would probably be my favorite of the OoT-style games, right after Wind Waker.

I'm pretty sure that one enemy in each gathering is basically "on-level" with you or slightly higher, while the rest are fixed no matter what. By the end of the game, White Bokoblins and Moblins were showing up in every single group, even the ones on the Great Plateau from the very beginning of the game.

I like that much better than other forms of enemy scaling I've seen. When all enemies scale, it never feels like you're making any progress. When none scale in an open world game, going to the "wrong" place last makes it way too easy.

I found Breath of the Wild to be way too easy after the first ten hours or so anyway, though.

There are a ton of couch co-op or single-screen competitive multiplayer games on the PC. The PC! The vast majority of them would run fine on the Switch, and with two controllers handy at all times, they're a perfect fit. Snipperclips was one of the standout games shown at the reveal for good reason.

Indie devs should be scrambling to get their games on the Switch, and Nintendo should make it as easy as possible for that to happen. There's a huge potential market there.
