Despite all the very legitimate setbacks, the average guy in the U.S. (or world for that matter) thinks, "It's a new Playstation, I have to get this!". We saw similar issues with the Playstation 2 yet that didn't stop the system from dominating the competition. I asked an EB manager how the preorder day went. He told me that 50 people were lined up when he showed up at the store to open (keep in mind this well before the store is actually 'opened'). So he counted off the first 10 and those 10 plunked down $100+ on the PS3. It's such a strong brand name that hype alone will sell it, I however am waiting since college would prevent me from playing it even if I had $600+ to spend.
