While the trailer looked promising, knowing that it's basically just Dyack asking for money, I'm very sceptical about this.  I'm with Keesh on this one.  The reason ED was any good was because Nintendo was looking over Dyack's shoulder.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, story, and overarching meta-idea that was the multiple play-throughs.  It was an enjoyable and unique game.  If Dyack can live up to the original and build upon the gameplay of the original, I'll definitely buy it for WiiU.  Give him money just because he says he'll do so though, I will not.

Kickstarter is swimming with overpromises and underdeliveries. Dyack seems to be very able to do these without taking my money ahead of time. I know I'd stay far away.

Generally speaking, I don't. I pre-ordered BiShock Infinite for the sole reason that Microsoft packed in $20 worth of MS Points. It was worth it because of the discussion alone, but if I didn't know I'd like the game, and if there wasn't a bonus for pre-ordering, I never would have done it.

That was the first time I'd pre-ordered a game since Ace Combat 6.

It strikes me as funny that this story is suddenly making headlines; I live in Iowa and it occurred over a year ago and was in all the local papers fo a while, but only now is it making the news because CALL OF DUTY YOU GUYS.

Not that a child was given a gun by his parents, not that he then attempted to sexually violate her corpse. This kid has definite mental illness and was given a gun. Excessive playing of a violent video game isn't the illness; in this case, it was most likely a symptom.

I know  I'm preaching to the converted here, but I'm not looking forward to even more public hand-wringing over violent video games as some sort of root cause for a very sick mind.

This isn't about Gamestop. What about small busineses that sell the same services and buy used games/products for higher prices? This is about companies trying to protect their interests by violating people's right to resell property as mentioned in First Sale Doctrine. I urge the superme court to ban the illegal practice of prosecuting consumers who resell their games because first, those who sell their games no longer have access to it. Second, why should digital media be an exception to first sales doctrine? As I said, the content cannot be duplicated especially if it was bought off websites as Stream. Second hand market isn't ruining anyone's business.

This right here. Digital media, more than anything else, is an opportunity for these companies to try to control the entire experience while limiting the rights of consumers to access it.

...devices? Are there any dungeon crawlers for vita 3ds or ipad yet? I'm haven't seen any that stick out in my mind. Touch screens seem like a great way to play point and click hack and slash games. I'm not expect diablo III or anything but I think that iPad, Vita, and maybe even the 3DS could run something like torchlight/torchlight 2 no problem. use touch screen to attack and have a hot key system similar to the bar used in plants versus zombies. I just can't believe this hasn't been done yet it seems so obvious to me lol 0.o

The Bard's Tale was ported to iPad and was recently on sale for $1.99. It would be nice to see The Legend of Grimrock get ported over, but aside from a GameSpot page for it, I am unfamiliar with such an effort to bring it to the 9.7" screen.

Baldur's Gate is being gussied up and released on iPad this year, however, and the sequel is in the works as well.

Oh, I see. So because YOU don't like something, EVERYONE should be denied!

why include something that the majority of players wont ever use??

College dorms and family rooms must be some kind of hushed minority to you.

All of them. I don't get games at launch anymore. Got a family that comes first, and I enjoy a game a year later at $20-30 as much as I would have up front for $60.

Crim my good man, you just rattled off a ton of games I've either never felt an inkling to play or played just a bit of before moving on. The only good new JRPGs I've played in the last five years have been the titles Atlus has put out, Persona 3 FES chief among them.

I hate the rationale that it's a niche genre. It's a "niche genre" because the quality and progression of the games made within said genre is inferior, not because of public interest. If you make a great game, people will play it.

It really depends. Sometimes I think a game is done when I've beaten it. Other times it's done when I've accomplished everything. Some games are never finished so long as I can get better at them. " Bastion will be complete for me once I beat New Game +. I'm not concerned about other accomplishments, thoug I may try for more weapons challenges. It depends on how much I like the game and how much incentive I have to do things beyond the main story.
