it's exciting new titles like this that make you realise how pointless the whole console war is. i'm a ps3 owner, never owned any Nintendo products except for my gba, and currently on the fence between ps4 and xone, but guess what? Wii U has impressed me the most so far this gen and this E3 further cemented my view.

At a time when Sony and M'soft bicker over hardware spec and shiny AAAs, Nintendo continues its track record of delivering critically acclaimed original titles that stand out with great gameplay and strong synergy with its proprietary platforms. no wonder they don't give a crap about what EA and Ubisoft think - Nintendo has a sustainable if not bright future in this gen and i for one am keeping both eyes on Wii U now.

Thief 2 is by far the best in the series - much more polished than the first and much more immersive than the 3rd.

And overall, Thief is the best franchise out there when it comes to stealth. no just in terms of mechanics, which certainly aren't timeless but nonetheless still competent. more importantly the games have nailed the atmosphere and setting dead right. As you slide from shadown to shadow in a dark, Gothic world, you will revel in the secrets you uncover and the guile of manipulation. the usual rewards that you associate with action games will then be thrown out of the window. no games have since compelled me so.

but seeing that i5 3330 (2.7Ghz) is actually a low-end quad core, is the investment worth it? Or perhaps i should spend just a little bit more for 3470?

hi all, long story short. i'm planning a major upgrade for my old rig, which runs on - CPU: Intel C2D E7200 2.53Ghz; GPU: Nvidia GTX 560Ti.

With a tight budget, I'm aiming for an ivy bridge processor, either a i3 3220 or i5 3330, but i will keep my current GPU. I will not overclock.

the rig is mostly for gaming, ideally with the power to comfortably run all modern games on hd with details on high (not max)

So my questions are:

1. considering budget constraints (no hard cap, but the less the better), which of the two processors is a better investment for the purpose i described?

2. how big is the difference between these two processors when coupled with my 560Ti?

3. True or false? very few games actually take full advantage of quad core, hence i3 more than suffices.

Looking forward to your input and suggestions. Thanks.

nuff said. unless, of course, this is your idea of quality role-playing experience.

quite disappointing. for those of us who care, the entire series have been played to hell and back, and i doubt any sort of "modern enhancement" will be meaningful, even if it's a 3D conversion. personally i actually enjoy playing DnD games on Infinity engine, which exudes a timeless, story-book atmospher.

new classes..... miiiiiight be interesting, but since they're sticking to 2nd edition i don't see how that can happen.

all in all.... a let down for me.

fans would hardly need any reminder - after years of waiting, the first localised Tales of title for PS3 has finally arrived at this part of the world. i'm sure some of you are playing it now, do share with us your initial impressions as we wait for more reviews to come in. speaking of reviews - the ones already out do not tell us anything we don't already know: it fully delivers on Tales of's trademark combat system, but many have issues with the staple elements of JRPG narrative. as always, the genre is an acquired taste and i don't expect everyone to enjoy these games equally. nonetheless, it's still the quality release that PS3 has been sorely missing for years, so don't miss out.
