As for the question.. Or it could be a culmination of many different issues over a sizable period of time. But either way, i'm sure OC that the resurgence of "us vs. themism" among the one group not actively participating in it as a group till now, nor allowed to even if they wanted, that you specifically are no doubt talking about only here.. Could surely have nothing to do with the current trend/fad/obsession over identity worship and very selectively overt racial and sex based animosity, scapegoating and hatred directed against said group... surely not! (You're right, it must be freedom at fault..)

It really baffles me that anyone could think that speech of any kind should be banned. (outside of literal threat.. "fire" etc) Usually without ever a thought any deeper into what that would mean. Who would get to choose and how it would be enforced. And as far as it goes with this topic, steam, it's not even a question. Steam is based within the US, and there is no 1st amendment exception for "hate speech".

This doesn't really do anything to the first issue. They didn't say they weren't going to deal with those. As for "potentially" illegal, that's a non issue because IF, and when, it is proved to "actually" be illegal, it'll be dealt with. (this is an argument that gets thrown around a lot with this type of topic and is more than somewhat of a red herring 98% of the times it is.) Morally grey is EXACTLY the kind of stuff they themselves don't want to, nor should they, play arbiter to. (nor should we want them to either.) And again on the last part, they never said that broken games and such would get a free pass because of this.. You yourself even said, this is about censorship of content.

Sadly no not really.. It's one of a handful of types of games that with today's tech would be great, but nobody has got around to doing it. :(

Yup OP.. How times have changed.. OC game journalists were different people back then.. Gamers first at the very least. But yeah, it's sad to see that after all the years of fighting the nonsensical "games/media causes ______" bullshit, and finally seemingly winning.. We are right back here under attack again because of another group of dogmatic idealogues with the very same old illogic and arguments, only of a different topic. With the worst part being that we're no longer united against it cause of some of "our own"... allegedly.

This is very great news.

For those worried about scam/fake/broken games, it sounds like they aren't giving them a free pass. As it seems like this was only about content and censorship. They just didn't do a good job of making that clear. That's how I read it at least.

And the whining has already begun from some places/types.. lol

(Not directing this at you, as you're likely just stating the policy.)

i.e. We want to keep forcing political/ideological nonsense into our game site and (like most who think like such) we can't have the unwashed, trivializing our rants by pointing out that they have no place here, or *gasp* openly questioning the views we're pushing. (*see disagreement... or, as a braindead believer, "toxicity" and "hate")

Also.. If you guys are so worried about people discussing politics in the comments of articles, then maybe STOP ****ing forcing politics and ideology into the articles in the first place! (same goes for clickbait that is nothing but ideological rantings!)
