There was NO "gay subtext" just a few of the (usual) western fans utterly failing at the concept of context and intent... once again. -_- But that's beside the point here really.
I'm not sure i'd argue that having a perverted or censored version of something is "better" than not having it at all, especially when there is absolutely no reason for many of the changes in the first place. At the very least, that line of reasoning is being used completely and utterly wrong here. Such an argument should never ever be the basis for attacking or discrediting people who point out the problems in the first place. Doing so literally IS defending censorship and or cheap/bad work!
Indeed.. I can never understand that kind of new "logic" and narrative. "OMG those horrible fans ruin it for all the others who might somewhat care and maybe watch it.. They must be ignored... but really i mean stopped/attacked!" On the stupidity list, it's an argument and strategy right up there with attacking your audience or throwing them under the buss in the name of some other outside interest or POV. (or because of shilling)
Id say that was pretty clear already after they started their new censorship mandate trying to appease outside ideologue whiners and phantom potential gamer demographics. But yeah.. out of touch is pretty spot on. And to be fair, they have a history of doing really stupid things from time to time and basically spitting in their fans faces. (see the SEA RPG banishment attempt of the PS1 era, the 2D apocalypse of the PS2 era, the current censorship, the PS3 lockdown, the cross-play intransigence, the list goes on..)
