The article greatly over-estimated the Xbox's FLOPS. The Xbox had 5.8 GFLOPS, less than the GameCube.

The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive number is incorrect. Sega sold 30.75 million units up until 1994. Sales figures after that are not included, nor does it include consoles sold by Tec Toy (3 million) and Majesco (millions). The final Sega Genesis/Mega Drive sales figure is closer to 40 million.

@freeformrulz: There was Dark Souls II, which would've been a far better GOTY than Mordor.

FFXII's story is actually much closer to The Hidden Fortress (the 1958 Akira Kurosawa film that inspired Star Wars) than it is to Star Wars.

Quantum physics defies the laws of classical physics, or even what we'd call "common sense". If any macro-sized objects did what sub-atomic particles do, we'd be calling it magic, voodoo, or supernatural. Quantum physics has the potential to open up countless possibilities for the future.

This list is missing classic crazy villains, like Kefka (FFVI), Sephiroth (FFVII), Psycho Mantis (MGS), Colonel AI (MGS2), etc.

The same reason most other developers have a raging hard-on for games set in the US, Western Europe, and Japan. The vast majority of video games (that aren't set in a fictional world) are almost always set in these same three locations, and it's starting to get a bit boring now. I'm glad Ubisoft are exploring alternative territories.

Anyway, the Assassin's Creed franchise itself is based on Middle-Eastern history, specifically the Shia Islamic cult called the "Assassins" (where our English word "assassin" is derived from), so it makes sense the Middle East would be the main focus of the franchise. But no, India is a very different place, a mostly tropical location, so it makes no sense lumping it together with the Middle East like that.

Firstly, 8 is a great score, not a "harsh" score.

Secondly, FFX was reviewed by a different critic (Greg Kasavin) in a different era (2001, PS2 era) and belongs to a different genre (RPG). Apples and oranges.

Actually, they did update the character models. Just look at the scene from 1:37 onwards and you'll notice the face of Tidus looking more detailed in the HD remaster. In the PS2 original, they used two different character models, one for the cut-scenes and the other for the gameplay (since the PS2 couldn't handle it). This time it looks like they used the same character model for both cutscenes and gameplay.

Nonsense argument. This is a remake combining the two previous Ys IV games into one. And for the record, the SNES version of Ys IV was the "canon" sequel up until now. Complaining about "lack of evolution" over a remake of 20 year-old games is just plain dumb.
