Love the new 3DS Zelda game

I picked up my pre-ordered copy of Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds on its release date, November 22. So far, the new Zelda game is awesome. The graphics and music are awesome. Also, the 3D effect looks great as well. Right now, I'm just wandering through both Hyrule and Lorule. The item renting system is kind of pointless. I've been a fan of the Zelda series since I was a kid. So it makes me miss finding key items in dungeons. The wall painting ability is pretty awesome.

The Wolverine movie review

I was so excited that they were doing another X-Men movie about Wolverine. I was dissapointed by Wolverine's last solo outing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. So I went to see the new Wolverine movie in regular old 2D yesterday since that's how I watched the other X-Men movies. The Wolverine is one of my favorite X-Men movies besides X-Men 1, X2: X-Men United, & First Class. The latest Wolverine solo movie takes place after the events in the 3rd X-Men movie, The Last Stand. Logan hides out in the Canadian wilderness because he feels guilty about the death of Jean Grey. Through out the movie he dreams about both Jean Grey & the Japanese soldier Yashida that he saved from the nuclear blast that destroyed Nagasaki in 1945. Yashida sends one of his servants, Yukio, to Canada to find Logan/Wolverine to repay him for saving his life. Yukio takes Wolverine to Tokyo, Japan so he could say goodbye to Yashida since the former soldier was dying. Over the years, Yashida started his own company and had a son named Shingen and a granddaughter named Mariko. After Wolverine arrives, the old man mysteriously dies. While at the funeral, Yakuza thugs attack the proceedings and Wolverine protects Mariko. I won't spoil the rest of the movie for those who hadn't watched the movie yet. It was great seeing a world weary side to Logan/Wolverine. The movie had a pretty good story. It was based on the Frank Miller Wolverine miniseries. In the movie, it shows Wolverine as the outsider. There was a lot of action & Wolverine slicing up his enemies. It was awesome seeing Hugh Jackman return to the role that made him famous. I enjoyed his performance as Wolverine. Also, I enjoyed the performances of the other actors. I really liked the actresses who played Mariko & Yukio a lot. The Japanese setting was lovely & I liked seeing a bit of the culture in Japan. There is an awesome mid-credits scene that features the return of Sir Ian McKellan as Erik Lensherr aka Magneto & Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier also called Professor X. Seeing Patrick Stewart as Professor X in the Wolverine makes up for the character's supposed death in X-Men: The Last Stand. Professor X & Magneto team up to tell Wolverine about a threat to mutants worldwide. This sets up the next movie in the X-Men movie series,X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the original X-Men cast & the cast from X-Men: First Class which I can't wait to see when it comes out.

Star Trek Into Darkness Review

I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness a day after its May 16th US release. Mom didn't want to see it in 3D. So we watched in plain old 2D. I have to say the latest Star Trek movie is the best one yet. Star Trek Into Darkness is my favorite one from the Star Trek movie series. Despite the negative reviews, I still enjoyed the movie a lot. In the latest Star Trek movie, Captain Kirk and the Enterprise deal with a former Starfleet officer called John Harrison who attacked a secret Section 31 base in London. At a meeting with some of Starfleet's higher ups, Kirk figures out why Harrison pulled off the attack in London. During the meeting, Harrison attacks Kirk, Spock, Pike, and the other high ranking officials. Several people including Admiral Pike were killed during the attack. Kirk uses a fire hose to jam up the engine of Harrison's attack jet. Kirk accepts a mission for avenge the death of Pike (who was like a father to him) to follow John Harrison to an uninhabited part of the Kligon homeworld, Qo'nos, and fire seventy-two missiles to kill him. I won't spoil the rest of the movie for those who hadn't watched Star Trek Into Darkness. As a lifelong Trekkie, I found Into Darkness to be one of the best Star Trek movies out there. The acting in this one was great, but one actor's performance was better than the rest. I knew when I heard that Benedict Cumberbatch was gonna be in the movie, he was going to be amazing. He definitely proved that I was completely right. Benedict Cumberbatch stole the show in every scene that he was in. He has to be my favorite Star Trek movie villain by far. His performance as everyone's favorite Star Trek villian, Khan Noonien Singh, was brilliant. I just wish that Benedict Cumberbatch had more screentime in the movie. I loved Leonard Nimoy's minor cameo as Spock Prime. It was great seeing him in his most famous role again. The special effects in Star Trek Into Darkness were great. I was getting tired of the lens flare. That was annoying. When I heard Khan was going to be in the movie, I thought that they were doing the whole Wraith of Khan and Search for Spock thing all over again. Star Trek Into Darkness proved me wrong. It took elements from both movies and made them even better. There were a lot of twists and turns in the plot to keep my attention. There were several funny moments throughout the movie. Star Trek Into Darkness is a movie worth seeing.

So excited about some new movies coming out

There are several awesome movies coming out that I'm so excited to see. I'm really excited to see the new Iron Man movie that came out today. I loved the other Iron Man movies. Also, I'm excited to see Star Trek-Into Darkness. Seeing Benedict Cumberbatch from BBC's Sherlock in the new Star Trek movie just adds more to my excitement to see the movie. I've been a big fan of both Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes and having a Sherlock Holmes actor in Star Trek makes a very happy fan. The new Superman movie, Man of Steel, looks really good. So, I might go see that. I can't wait Thor 2 and the Wolverine. Both movies look awesome and Christopher Eccelston (9th Doctor) from Doctor Who is gonna be in the next Thor movie. Also, I'm excited to see The Hunger Games 2-Catching Fire. One of the movies I'm excited to see the most besides Iron Man, Thor, Star Trek, and Wolverine is the next Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug. I loved reading the book and watching the Lord of the Rings movies along with reading the LoTR books.

Got a used Wii today

I finally gave in and got myself a Nintendo Wii today. The main reason why I got a Wii was because I wanted to play both Legend of Zelda-Twilight Princess and Legend of Zelda-Skyward Sword. I never bother getting one until now because I really wasn't interested because its motion control didn't appeal to me. Another reason why I got a Wii was because I wanted to download the original N64 version of both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask along with A Link to the Past. Also, it's a lot cheaper to buy a Wii than a PS3 since that game system still costs around two hundred dollars or so. In other words, I mainly bought my Wii just to play Zelda games. I also bought Twilight Princess with my used Wii. Played a bit of it today, but I couldn't play too much of it since finals are coming up in a few days. There are some other games that I want to get for the Wii. I might get Goldeneye 007(Daniel Craig version), Okami, and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World as well. I wish the Wii version of Tales of Graces was released in the US. That's another game I want to play. It's gonna take me a while to get use to the controls though.

Keep getting lucky

I definitely had a run of good luck finding old PSOne games in the past week or so. Last week, I found actual copies of both the original Final Fantasy Tactics and Star Ocean-The Second Story. Yesterday was another lucky day for me. I went back to the store where I found the two awesome PSOne games I found last Friday and I found an actual copy of the 1st Parasite Eve game. It's the black label verison of the game. One of the workers at the store told me that I missed it when I bought FFTactics and Star Ocean last Friday. Can't believe that I missed seeing it the other day. On the other hand, at least I got my hands on Parasite Eve 1 along with FFTactics and Star Ocean-the Second Story.

A very cool find

I had a really cool find today. I went to the Replay's used game & DVD store in town and found a couple of good PS1 games. The two PS1 games I found were Final Fantasy Tactics (Greatest Hits version) and Star Ocean-The Second Story. The good thing was the previous owner traded in several of their old PS1 games along with the two I found. That is why I love going to the used game store. They normally have a good selection of games for various game systems along with DVDs and Blu-Rays. They also had a couple of copies of FFVII along with FFAnthology and FFIX. I paid about $12.99 for FFTactics (Greatest Hits) & $8.99 for Star Ocean plus sales tax. Also, I bought season 2 of Burn Notice on DVD for $23.99. So I was lucky to find those two games. Couldn't pass up the chance of owning both of those two games.

Oz the Great and Powerful movie review

I went to see the newest Wizard of Oz movie, Oz the Great and Powerful, in 3D on its opening day last Friday. I was so excited to see this movie. The good thing about going to see the new Oz movie on the first day was there wasn't a lot of people there when I went. Now, I admit the only Oz related books that I've read was the Wicked Years series by Gregory Maguire. I have watched the 1939 Oz movie as well. So I'm kind of familiar with the basis of the Oz books. I was more excited to see Oz the Great and Powerful than Jack the Giant Killer. I thoroughly enjoyed the newest movie based on the works of L. Frank Baum. The story of Oz the Great and Powerful is mainly focused on Oscar Diggs and how he became the Wizard of Oz. Like the 1939 movie, it starts off in black and white. At the beginning, Oscar Diggs is a womanizing con man working as a magician at a traveling circus that stopped in Kansas. After flirting with the girlfriend of the circus strongman, he climbs into a hot air balloon to escape the guy. While in the balloon, Oscar realizes that a tornado was heading straight towards him. Like Dorothy, the tornado takes Oscar Diggs to the land of Oz. When he first arrives, Oscar meets a beautiful witch called Theodora (Mila Kunis). She tells him that he could be the wizard prophesied to defeat the Wicked Witch who killed her father to get the throne of Emerald City. On their trip to Emerald City, Theodore develops a crush on Oscar who tries to avoid the subject. Then, Oscar saves Finley the flying monkey from a lion. After arriving at the Emerald City, they meet Theodora's older sister called Evanora, whose also a witch. She tells Oscar and Finley that the Wicked Witch lives in the Dark Forest and they must destroy her wand to defeat her. Now, I won't spoil the rest of the movie for those who hadn't watched the movie yet. Despite the bad reviews, I still enjoyed watching the latest Oz movie. I can see why both the acting and the story are not very good at times. I wasn't really impressed by the performance of Mila Kunis. Every time I saw her on screen, I kept thinking about her Family Guy character, Meg. I really liked James Franco's performance as Oscar Diggs, the Wizard of Oz. I loved the characters, Finley the flying monkey & China Doll. The special effects looked amazing espically in 3D. The story was decent, but the movie stuck to the spirit of the 1939 movie. I loved the references to the books and the 1939 movie. I liked the references to the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion. There was even a reference to Dorothy's family. At times, the movie reminded me of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Despite its flaws, I still enjoyed watching Oz the Great and Powerful.

Finished playing Fire Emblem: Awakening

I finally beaten Fire Emblem: Awakening yesterday. It was definitely worth the searching I had to do so I could find an actual copy. Playing the game was a lot of fun. This Fire Emblem game is worth getting a 3DS for. I enjoyed the game a lot. Fire Emblem: Awakening is definitely worth playing through multiple times. Now, I'm going to try and find some more really good games to play on my 3DS. I've already played the 3DS remakes of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Tales of the Abyss along with Kingdom Hearts 3D and Dead or Alive: Dimensions.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Review

I normally don't play strategy games like Fire Emblem: Awakening. The main reason why I got this game was because I heard many great things about it. Also, the only other strategy/tactics game that I enjoyed playing was Final Fantasy Tactics and its PSP remake, War of the Lions. Fire Emblem: Awakening is now my second favorite strategy game besides Final Fantasy Tactics.
When you first start a new game, you can choose the gender, hair style and color, face style, build, voice, and name of your Avatar. Then, prepare to enjoy an amazing story. The Avatar wakes up in field with some people looking over him/her. They are Frederick and Lissa of the Shepherds. Their leader is Chrom, Lissa's older brother. The Shepherds protect the people of Ylisse from bandits and other villains.
Chrom and Lissa are the younger siblings of Emmeryn, the Exalt (leader) of Ylisse. The Avatar joins Chrom and his Shepherds to protect people from the hired barbarians from Plegia. Gangrel, the Mad King of Plegia is trying to provoke a war with Ylisse. His reason of doing so is the previous Exalt of Ylisse (the father of Chrom and his sisters) was oppresive to his people.
Fire Emblem: Awakening has a great story. It keeps the player occupied. The gameplay is also very good as well. I really like the Pair Up aspect. It allows the player to attach one playable character to another one, which leads to status bonuses for one of the characters. The player can also marry the main playable characters. It determines the parents of the playable children characters along with their abilities.
I like the interactions of the main characters. The main thing I really love about Fire Emblem: Awakening is the graphics. This game has some of the best graphics that I've seen so far for the 3DS besides Kingdom Hearts 3D and Legend of Zelda-Ocarina of Time 3D. The graphics for Fire Emblem: Awakening look even more amazing when you use the 3D feature.
Another feature of the game that I like a lot is choosing between the Casual and Classic modes. In Casual mode, it lets you kept any character that gets killed off in battle. You can also save anywhere in Casual mode. Classic mode is just like every other Fire Emblem game. You can lose playable characters if they're killed off. That feature was always a turn-off for me and kept me away from the Fire Emblem series. That's why I like to play the Casual mode a lot.
There are also some extras to do as well. The main playable characters have conversations outside of battle that increase their relationship. This affects which character marries who. The abilities of the married couple passes on to their children. Another thing to do in Fire Emblem: Awakening is the Outrealm Gate. Here you can get the Downloadable Content (DLC). Some of the DLC are maps to fight on and characters from the other games in the Fire Emblem. Along with the regular storyline, there's the Paralouges. These are side-missions that let you recruit characters that you meet during the game and expand the story some more.
Fire Emblem: Awakening has many good things going for it. The game has a great story and really interesting characters. It also has a really good battle system and amazing graphics. All of those things were worth all of the searching for a hard copy. Even though it's hard to find an actual copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening, it is definitely worth the search.
