@N3cr0_Visi0N @Jackmac36

I totally enjoyed Diablo 2, and D1 was great fun until I discovered dup'ing, and batbat.

@geysiki @Jackmac36 If adding numbers to stats prevents a simple shallow game full of clones, perhaps it time we rethink games.
I feel like I have plenty of choice and variation in D3 with skills and stats in items.On the other hand I could just be crazy and totally wrong--but at least Blizzard tried to mix things up.

@TigusVidiks How odd, I feel the exact opposite. I actually really enjoy not having to fret over distributing my stats improperly. Maybe I'm just crazy, but it's gotten to the point where games like Torchlight 2 legitimately freak me out due to not knowing where I should put my stat points.

Well, now I feel like I'm the only person who actually enjoyed D3...

@goodbye77 I'm not sure what you're getting at to be honest. What I was trying to say is that the prospect of death is one that isn't very easily dealt with or understood. And seeing as how war is typically about death, a game that accurately represents war might also be equally hard to deal with and comprehend.

@Ailurusf I agree your agreeing. :P

People always use the phrase "war is hell". Great. Call of Duty ain't exactly hell (Not to pick on CoD too much, although I'm not a fan, the game can be pretty damn fun). Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Hamburger Hill, and Band of Brothers (haven't seen The Pacific yet, so no comment there) are good examples of how games that claim to be about war should be portrayed.

@goodbye77 Baby steps, dude, baby steps. Anybody who's into videogames and gets the daily paper knows what happened when Medal of Honor attempted that concept. My San Jose Mercury had a front page above-the-fold article on it.

I'm honestly all for it. Maybe it'll be a rough experience for some people--so what? Life's rough. People just aren't ready for someone to push the reality that OUR people are actually DYING over there, let alone trying to put you in the "enemies" shoes and point of view. There's got to be some way of pushing that boundary, we just need to figure out a way and a time to do it. And if that means waiting a decade for technology to improve, people to become a little more understanding (that's the toughie) and, hey, maybe even slapping an AO rating on the damn thing, then so be it.

"To make a game out of a war crime and to capitalise on the death and injury of thousands is sick. There will never be a time when it is appropriate for people to 'play' at committing atrocities."

Stop making books and novels. Stop making movies. Stop the news. Stop the god damned press.

A lot of the world today "capitalizes" on subjects like these. In my opinion, the only way that a game like this could be "sick" is if they attempted to not make it realistic (as possible) and not serious. They weren't making CoD: Fallujah, they were taking the stories of real soldiers and telling it through a medium. The moment that becomes a bad idea we should just start burning books, or begin teaching our children that they shouldn't be using their imagination to visualize the novels they read and the history textbooks they study.

Also, as a side note, I personally believe that not all games are meant to be "played", and that many are meant to be experienced.

(All my opinion) Nintendo seems to be moving to fast, with these multiple releases. I've never really been interested in any of the post-gameboy advanced gear, but I do think that the DS to DSi upgrade was intelligent (who doesn't love having a cmall portable camera). However, making constant upgrades and bombarding customers with multiple versions that cost around/upwards of $100 is a little crazy. Instead of making these constant upgrades, I say they should take a tip from the PSP and make one single system that you can upgrade when whatever new idea comes out of Nintendo. I realize that you can't download a camera, or a larger system, but having FREE upgrades is a nice thing. But either way, just something to think about...
