nothing special... don't blame nintendo, they just released a new hardware. plus i still have to complete my DS collection (2 games missing, one has been shipped and the other is a birthday present :D) and i have plenty of non-nintendo games to get in Q2.BrunoBRS

Thank you. I'm glad that someone is being rational here. There's been a HUGE explosion of troll threads on this topic. I DOUBT this is all the Wii has for the 2nd quarter AND the remainder of the year. I expect XENOBLADE and THE LAST STORY to make it here; E3 will probably be where both make their debut.

This has been one of my most highly anticipated games for the Wii ever since I first heard about it. Incidentally, I just received the soundtrack album for my birthday and I am enjoying it immensely. Not Chrono Trigger caliber, but still very beautiful and very recommended.

As far as the voices go, I agree, they do sound underwhelming and the localization by Ignition feels rushed from what I've seen, but I'm sure there'll be an option to turn off the voice acting, and from what I've heard the rest of the game does sound worthwhile. That's ultimately what attracts me to a game: not voice work, not so much a story--just the gameplay and how fun it is.

I think it's too early to call either a sales disaster, since both have been recently released, but it is unfortunate that neither title was able to clear 100K in their first months. Although in the case of Silent Hill, I don't see it as TOO much of a failure. (Hey, at least it wasn't a super failure like Dead Space.) As mentioned, the Silent Hillseries is now a niche one, and the sales numbers for this title are about on par with the last one; I do think that one has the potential to have legs. Whether Konami considers it profitable enough to do another one remains to be seen, but until they say otherwise, I'm taking this with a grain of salt.

As far as Crystal Bearers is concerned, there are places where the game itself could be better--it does come across as unpolished at times. But it's not at all bad; in fact, I had a blast playing it. Again, however, the sales numbers for that title are only for the first couple of days or so. Now I'm not saying that this title will be a smash hit, but I don't think it'll be a complete failure either.

I don't think either game was expected to light up the charts, though. Either way, it by no means guarantees that third party support is automatically going to "jump ship". We've still got titles coming this year, and we've only just begun 2010. So let's just wait and see what happens before writing off both the 3rd party situation and the fate of both of these games.

My favourite Miyazaki films are Grave of the fireflies and Princess Mononoke. My favourite work of Miyazaki is something not popular over here which is conan Boy of the future. If anyone of you watched this anime, you'd see how much Studio Ghibli movies were inspired by that anime.

o_o, that means either the DVD isn't region locked, or all of your DVD players are region free :P.

Japanese dub only? DUB? XD. I always preferred the Japanese versions, but sometimes the english dub is fine (Spirited Away was good imo, even if it was by disney...because to me, disney never fails to deliver :)).

I dont mind the english subtitles, but the only english Dub I prefered was howls moving castle since it had Christian Bales voice:D

Actually, studio ghibli's dubbing or should I say Disney's dubbing is the best dubbing company ever because of the high production values and A grade actors they hire to do the voice overs so no need to worry about English Dub's quality.

Curious--which ones have you seen dubbed?

Personal bias: I LOVE Miyazaki's films. All of them. And I happen to be fond of the dubs for all of them. There's just so much more that I enjoy from them in watching these movies in my native language, plus, with a good selection of voice actors in the dubs, it's just so much more pleasant to listen to them in English. Some of my favorites include:

KIKI: This movie got me into Miyazaki, and to this day I still hold it close to my heart. Phil Hartman's Jiji is noticeably different from his Japanese counterpart, true, but I personally found him hilarious and a joy to listen to every time. Kirsten Dunst was also great as Kiki. The additional music pieces aren't as lovely as the rescore for LAPUTA, but I liked them anyway, and I hope nobody rags on me if I say that I loved the Sydney Forest songs at the OP and ED.

LAPUTA: Another favorite of mine. There's been a lot of controversy over the Disney dub of this film (as with TOTORO), but personally I love this movie better in English because it makes some clever casting choices for most of its characters: Dola and Muska especially, and I also liked the new score by Joe Hisaishi. The leads are probably a tad too mature-sounding and the script chattier than necessay, but otherwise this is a dub I enjoy unreservedly. Of course I like the Japanese version too, but the dub gets more replay value with me.

TOTORO: I love this movie so much because the title character reminds me of my pet guinea pig. There are a lot of people who argue that the FOX dub is superior to Disney's version, but I think both versions are excellent in their own right. The first was a classic of its time, but the newer dub really does add a lot to the film, especially in the casting of two actual sisters as Satsuki and Mei.

MONONOKE: Breathtaking movie, excellent dub. Seeing this in the big screen was a treat for me.
