As someone who had incredible trouble finding a job (an under-qualified/over-qualified nightmare), give them a chance. When their lease renewal comes up, maybe inquire about their employment status and if they've had any recent interviews. I mean, if they're genuinely trying to find work and simply can't, I don't see that as a reason to get rid of them. If not, that's a valid reason not to renew the lease.
Also, try to be nicer if they are making an effort to find employment. Being unemployed is shitty enough.
