@girlusocrazy: For quite a few people, the convenience of having their PC run faster and be more efficient outside of a game is enough of a trade off to upgrade it to play said game.

@firedrakez: it wasn't made available to PC until 2003, nearly two years after its initial release. The staggered release favored Microsoft in that it created a double whammy of sales.

The way their releasing now, and with far more laptops/Pc's in the average persons possession, the PC sales will step on the console sales toes quite a bit.

@girlusocrazy: Infinite will launch in all current Xbox consoles. That means a simple ram and graphics card update to your personal laptop will be able to run the game (unless you have a 5+ year old machine).

How much more convenient do you want it? I rather upgrade my laptop than plop down 500 bucks on a glorified paperweight.

And before you say "Not a lot of people have pc's/laptops", I'll counter with the fact that most individuals who would even want to play halo do.

It was a big deal in 2001 because Xbox was the ONLY platform to play the venerated Halo. Now you don't even need to be on the same brand and just run it on your personal laptop as long as you get a ram upgrade and a new graphics card (provided your laptop isn't 4+ years old or a Mac).

@m4a5: Where did I mention I was important to this topic? I'm talking stats and sales, not ideologies or fanboyism. There's literally a paper trail showing that them pushing software for their xbox brand that's not console only exclusive has hurt their sales significantly in that sector. One of the reasons for the sales decline being what I explained above. Their was even talk of them shedding their xbox property entirely at one point before they promoted Spencer to be chief of the brand a few years back due to flagging sales and no quality exclusives.

Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if that was their plan all along. Make the xbox property such a bad consumer purchase that consumer's turn to PC in response to play their favorite first party Microsoft games. It's definitely working.

EDIT: Alternatively, they could be trying to make the xbox brand become a first party PC hardware brand, and add desktop/windows 10/office functionality to it. That would be an interesting move on their part. And would definitely make this marketing decision of gaming anywhere make sense from a financial standpoint.

@m4a5: Who the hell taught you marketing? You think the only reason Xbox One hasn't sold even remotely as well as Xbox 360 is due entirely to their crap launch? Exclusives are everything dude. Why bother with a system who's games are going to be playable on a PC you probably already have and only needs a graphics update and maybe a stick of ram to do so? This isnt 2012. In most developed countries, their are PC's/Laptops in every home. Many personal laptops nowadays are a graphics card update away from being able to play most of these games.

Why should anyone bother with it? Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with that decision. It's becoming more and more common for people to own Personal laptops and desktop PCs, and as the world becomes more Tech dependant, there will be less and less need for anyone to buy a console unless theirs quality exclusives tied to them. Nintendo has known this all along, and regardless of how kid-friendly most of their games are, this is why they chose an alternate route with their switch.

@alastor529: Even worse. They gave zero reason to buy their new system. Halo Infinite having simultaneous PC release means theirs zero reason to spend 500 bucks on "Xbox Scarlett" and instead save up a couple hundred bucks more and buy yourself a decent PC.

@videogameninja: The real problem lies in the fact that all xbox games will be simultaneously launched on PC. Unless the new xbox hardware is cheaper than 500 bucks, what reason do I have to shell out that kind of money instead of buying a PC? for 300 bucks more you can have a PC that is fully upgradeable and can play EVERY single game that Microsoft is launching. Why would any self-respecting smart consumer spend that kind of money on new xbox hardware and not just save up a bit more and splurge on a decent PC? Heck they even have controller support for BOTH Playstation AND Xbox controllers.

I just don't get it. The reason I bought a PS4 was because it had exclusives I couldn't play anywhere else. Not PC, not xbox, just plain and simply nowhere else. Where are the games on this new Xbox that are NOT going to be on PC that entice me to buy it there?

@vilified_signals: You mean Cross Save right? Because if you do then yes, it is the former, to an extent. You'll get to choose which three characters you want to bring forward, so basically, you grab everything you want to bring along from the characters you don't bring over and put it in your vault/the characters you choose, and voila.

@Barighm: I'm curious here. How so? Maybe pre-forsaken I can agree, but now it feels like the best of both D1 and D2 vanilla combined. About the only issue is bloom for handcannons on console. Other than that it feels crispier than D1.
