Over the past couple of years -- since '09 -- the GameSpot site has been on a slow downhill slide. It's performance decline (bugs, non-responsive pages, etc...) with the changes in the new(ish) looks have been rubbing a large number of veteran visitors to this site off for a while now. Recently, I set out to find another website to satisfy my game related inquiries and, although I will always remember the fun times spent browsing this site, I'm ready to say goodbye.

Personally, I do not like IGN's site, I prefer GameSpot, but I'm growing to dislike GameSpot too. I love the people, but the site is a big disappointment. And let's face it, a large number of people --myself included -- don't come here to socialize, they come here to read about a game, watch screenshots and reviews. GameSpot is making that very difficult, and has been for a while now.

I've been using Polygon.com for a few months now, and I gotta say, that site is looking better than GameSpot and yet it's snappier too. Truly responsive, works great on mobile, and most importantly, it works, and fast! It's not perfect, but it's definitely looking good...

What about everyone else? Are there any suggestions for other top contenders?

@intoxicatedcat: I agree completely, the previous system was quick -- very important, the current gamespot is sooooooo slow (and I'm on a 50 Mbit/s connection) -- and so much more efficient.. I've been trying to find a certain game (for days now) released back in 2008-2010, and for the life of me I can't. Using the previous gamespot, I would've found it right away. Honestly, I'd move to IGN, if it weren't so much worse. Such a shame there is no good gaming site. I really hope gamespot either reverts to the previous UI or improves the current one (although at this point they would need a massive overhaul). And don't even get me started on mobile. It's absolutely useless on a mobile device. Ridiculous, really...
