[QUOTE="DantesWell"]hey guys, i have of course as a video gamer heard alot about half life 2 FOREVER and about how great it is. my question to you is if i should get it now AND if it still holds up FPS and graphic standards (it came out in 2004). the other decision is just to wait for the orange box for my PS3onemic

Yes and yes. You might as well wait for orange box though as you can get ep:2 and the rest in the bundle. The game is still better graphically than any other game I've played especially if you get a mod for the game called cinematic mod.

When I play Half-Life 2, I always play it with Smod (because it's more fun that way if anyone wondered, more weapons, harder enemies, etc.). Can you run the cinematic mod on top of the Smod, i.e. get the benefits of the cinematic mod while playing Smod.

Yeah, I've also been playing it from time to time.

Also, what movie is showing in your user icon, zbiggie?

Thanks for answering!

I think that is all the information I need. I don't know the resolutions supported by my monitor though, since I didn't bother changing it, when I still had my old Radeon 9700 Pro, but that is a minor issue. Let the games (with increased settings) begin!

Hi!

I recently upgraded my graphics card from a Radeon 9700 Pro to a X1950 Pro and I want to know if I can increase my screen resolution (1024*768), Anti-Aliasing, anisotropic filtering etc. and how much I can increase it, compaired to the settings that my old card could support. I'm not of those gamers who want to be able to max out their settings or anything like that, I would just like to know what things I would be able to increase. I've always chosen to have perfomance over visual quality, but I thought that I should be able increase some things, now that I have a better graphics card. Any answers would be appreciated.

I recently got the "what am I gonna play now " feeling with some of the newer titles I have.

I looked up and thought, hmm....maybe I should install that again.

I did:  NOLF 2, MYST, RIVEN, Thief 3:DS,kotor, and ol' PK.

It's almost a whole new game all over (except for ,well, I played it before)

,but turning up the sound and the hardware changes since then make it alot of fun.

Busted out some civilization= blast!

Give it a try if your wondering what to play next or waiting for it to come out.

(I lost/sold/gaveaway so many titles, but hey who knew they would want their first copy of  deus ex back?)

I'm about to start up the first KotOR and I thought that I would increase the graphical settings, to see if it made a difference. It didn't make any difference when I tried switching between 800*600 and 1024*768 resolutions, but it's still a great game, even if it doesn't look any better with increased settings.

Undying is great! Totally forgot about that one; shame on me. There are some patches out there to enhance the textures and make it able to run on XP. However, despite the patches the game keeps crashing on me; I never got it to work on my XP computer

That's why I consider myself lucky I still have a pentium II on win 98... never thought I would say that in 2007.

As far as I know, there is only one patch (Undying patch 1) and it deals with texture-related issues, not texture enhancing. Was it patch 1, the one you were referring to? Because if it was, I have already downloaded it and I didn't see any enhancements in the textures. Just wondering.

I've played them both and I think KotOR 1 was better. I've actually thought a lot about why I like the first one better.

Reasons why the first one was better: Better story which felt more "Star Wars" - like, better beginning and ending (gotta love the Endar Spire level and Taris), felt more balanced (in KotOR 2 the combat felt to easy and in some parts it was a bit too hard).

On the whole KotOR 1 had larger up's and down's. Dantooine and Manaan were quite boring IMO, and the change in enjoyment from Manaan to Korriban (I really liked that planet), for example, was also much larger. I guess it made you appreciate the good planets more when you had played the less good planets. KotOR 2 had a more even level of enjoyment, there weren't so many up's and down's there. KotOR 1 also felt more complete, not being rushed like the second one was. I could go on all day, but that should cover most things.

[QUOTE="Hurvl"]Like RoberBowen said, Clive Barker's Undying. It's from 2001, but with pretty good graphics for a game that old. The music, ambient sound and story is fantastic. The level design is also quite good, especially in some areas. It has quite unique enemies as well. geitenvla

I had the opposite problem. When I played it on my Pentium II (my family's previous computer, which I now have inherited) it had lots of bugs that made it almost unplayable (no in-game HUD, black rectangles on the menu where it should have said "Load" and "Save").

Then when I installed it on my Pentium 4 XP and downloaded a patch, all the bugs disappeared and it went as smooth as any recent game. Maybe I'll download those texture-enhancing patches.
